About my friend's US Citizenship?

my friend is a legal resident here and her family in Italy's expecting her to come to Italy and stay for 3 months before her Dad will die of cancer

But she is doubtful about it coz someone told her that the US Embassy will deduct all the days that she's out of the country from the total 5 years requirements to be eligible for US Citizenship if time comes that she would apply for it. Is this true?

Any idea?

Answer:
Not so, according to the guide for immigrants on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website, which says: "Be present in the U.S. for at least 30 months out of the past 5 years (or 18 months out of the past 3 years if married to and living with a U.S. citizen)."
