My friend is engaged to marry a boy in London and needs to know what is the procedure for applying for a visa? The embassy in Australia have not been to helpful. They referring her to the internet site which is not very clear on the procedure .
Answer:
Apply for a fiancee visa to the UK and support it with the letter of the boy in London to prove the relationship with the planned marriage.
The Fiance visa will grant her entry into the UK for 6 months, during which time she would be required to marry. She would not be allowed to work during that time.
To get married in the UK a foreign national would need a Certificate of Approval. This is written permission from the UK Secretary of State to marry.
