Can someone be arrested when entering the U.S. if they have a visa but have a bench warrant for a misdemeanor?

If someone failed to appear in court and left the U.S. and now want to come back into the U.S., can they be arrested at the airport? What if the bench warrant for a 1st time misdemeanor (for domestic dispute) was issued in California and the person enters comes back into the U.S. via New York or Miami first (isn't that where they have to go through immigration first?). Would they be arrested?

Answer:
ANYONE can be arrested when entering the U.S., even if there is no warrant. The Patriot Act gave our law enforcement officials the power to arrest anyone, anytime, and ship them to Guantanamo Bay indefinitely, without benefit of legal representation. Then Bush gave the CIA authority to kill U.S. citizens abroad, if they are suspected of "terrorism," whatever that is. The country you want to come to is now a police state. But don't worry, if you're a foreign national, they'll wave you right through.
If its a "federal" warrant or charge then the chances are very high, but if it a city or state warrant, you can get by the feds,,,,,unless they have an active lookout for you,,,,
People DO get arrested at the port of entry, but it greatly depends on the severity of crime and whether your information is of relevance to security. You'll probably ben fine coming in.. but to issue the visa in the first place, I'd think they'd ask about criminal record...
It depends, if the judge issuing the warrant approved full extradition. Usually if there was no major violence there would be no extradition outside California or nearby states.
If it there is full extradition then ICE will not arrest you at the border. They may detain you for the local police, but I doubt it. It is not a bar to entering the country if you have a right to come in.
Yes, most definitely.
Very likely. Computers are wonderful inventions, but they now carry so much information about people, including outstanding warrants. Some people reentering the US do get arrested at the airports. The point is, have your business in order before you leave because you could end up in trouble when you try to come back.
Yes the person can be arrested and he could also be classified as inadmissable to the United States.
it will show up but you will get a free ride
Of course... If it enters the FBI database your in!!
Sorry, but I really hope so!
Pathetic part of this is that domestic abuse is a misdemeanor. I hope it blocks re-entry at least. We
have enough recidivist criminals of our own.
Yes. If the agents are doing their job.
