Do you think that Tom Tancredo was out of line for mentioning?

stopping ALL immigration (both legal or illegal) for a small amount of time to assimilate immigrants already in America?

Answer:
Nope, it makes perfect sense when you take off the politically correct goggles. Tancredo's intention is only to preserve the American way of life, through appreciation for our traditions and learning the value of U.S. citizenship.

It's been done before. Net immigration even went down in the 1950's. just before the radical baby boomers started protesting for the sake of protesting.

Politics aside, you want some practical reasons? Our healthcare and education system are already buckling. Our natural wildlife is being squeezed out by incessant urban sprawl. Our roads are packed to the gills with traffic jams everywhere you look. Cities are polluted. Gang violence is on the rise once again. House prices are skyrocketing. Everything is a chain reaction, caused by overpopulation and exponential growth in urban areas.
No. It's just practical. It would be helpful to allow some assimilation time before taking on a new wave of immigrants.
I would have stood up and cheered wildly had I been there.
I don't see a thing out of line about it.
Tom Tancredo is out of line period. He will never be elected.
nope. those that are here need to be accounted for whether they are legal or illegal. we must prevent more from entering and then fix the problem and then begin anew with a new less complex immigration system.
I don't think he was out of line; that's his opinion. I personally disagree with that opinion but he certainly separated himself from the rest of the candidates on that issue.

He definitely struck a chord when he said that bi-lingual countries don't work. So that means countries like Canada, Switzerland, and China aren't working. If I were a Republican, he would have lost my vote with that comment right away.
it's a legitimate enterprise through history and today. Lots of countries are crowded and don't want more people. We can have a flexible system allowing in who we want for special circumstances and eventually shifting to any policy that fits our needs from anybody, or only HS/ college educated, only certain professionals, nobody, or invite only.

I think we do already have too many people, i'd like to keep our wildlife and such. I would have set in to only skilled professionals like doctors long ago and if we need more people put out the ads.
No, I think it was right on the money. Why not take a time out and reassess what are needs as a country. One of the biggest complains I have about amnesty it that why should illegal have the say on what our country needs . If we had a time out we could see what we ( not the illegals) want and need and set our own agenda
nope i agree with him...
It's true that Tancredo will never be elected president, not because he's out of line, but because he doesn't tow the party line. He knows he can't win the election, but he's standing up and being the bad guy, saying what others are afraid today, hoping that his voice will be heard. He is an honorable man with the best interests of America at heart. I believe he'd trade his remaining years if it would keep this a great and prosperous nation. A selfless politician, and a truly dieing breed!
No. I agree with him.
Tom Tancredo is a breath of fresh air. He has simple, no nonsense solutions. I will vote for him because he has the best interests of the American people at heart, unlike the Kennedy-Kyl . La Raza traitors who have Their best interests at heart.
He doesn't beat around the "Bush" but tells it like it is. Plain English, no political speak or spin.
No, I think he's dreaming.
How are they going to WANT to learn English?
I agree with him on that.It says no where in the constitution that we HAVE to let people in this country.
No way, I want my grandma to come visit me, since i haven't seen her in 3 years =[ and she would come legal so it wouldn't be fair..
Thats what I like about Tancredo, and Hunter, they tell it just like it is.
Tancredo is a prime time as*-Hole.. I can't believe he's still in public office.. who's his constituency??
No he wasn't. I think he really wants to fix the problem. He gets my vote!
I don't think it was out of line but I hope his total honesty didn't hurt him. I really want to see him get elected.
