American Naturalisation?

My gggrandfather became an American citizen in 1906, i have all the dates etc, does anybody know how i can get a copy of this document? Thank You.

Answer:
Start with an internet search to make sure you have all the correct info, a lot of geneology sites can lead you to older public records then contact the county to see about getting the documents.
There may not be a record other than what was given to him unless it was recorded in the county/parish where he became a citizen.

I only have one person who became a citizen (came from France in 1850) and at that time (1855) all it involved was having people who knew you tell a judge that you were a good citizen, and then you had to foreswear any and all allegiance to any other government or monarch etc. Then the judge gave you a paper that said you were now a citizen.

1906 might have involved more than that, but start with county records.
if he or his kids were born in the USA you can call the vital statistics office in the state that person was born in. Then ask what is public record on this persons birth, death, and Marriage if any. It all should be public record. You will never be able to find out the children's names that these people had and there information. You have to have all the names of all the people in your family to get that information. First talk to the office and see what you need to do so you can have this for family records or what you need to use it for. You also need to find out how many people in your family if any still living in the USA as well as how long ago it was that these people lived here and see if it will help with Naturalization. You also have to ask if there is time line on how far back or does it have to be something like your parents are the only ones that can get you the right to Naturalization papers. My sons father had to do all this because his mom had him a month early on a trip to see family in Canada and he was born there but his mom and dad were born and lived in the USA. So they had to get the right papers from his parents to make him a US citizen cause of his early birth. You may not be able to use your great great grand parents at all it may end up being a closer relative. So ask before spending all this time and money if this is the only reason you are doing this. Unless this is for your family history like what I did for mine.
