I want to immigrate to the UK. How should I go on about it?

For the last four or more years, I've had my mind set on spending the rest of my life in the UK. I have anywhere from one or three years left of schooling (depending on how I go on about it), and then I want to permanently leave Canada and come and live in the UK.

How should I go on about it? How and where do I apply? Do I even have a chance applying? I have no British ancestry, and no EU citizenships, just Canadian (which is a part of Commonwealth, so I really hope it counts as something).

Also, moneywise, how much money would I need to start? Where would be the best place to come and live? And are there some fields which are more likely to give me a well-paying job in a relatively short seraching period?

Anything and everything would be very much appreciated.

I might tell you what I know, but I guess the best advice I can give is to put the same question in Answers UK
