A U.S. citizen wanted her children to go to a different school so she lied about her address. She was?

arrested and spent time in Jail. CNN wants to know if it is okay that she lied to put her kids in a different school? I say to CNN -- so what is the difference between this U.S. Citizen wanting something better for her kids and an illegal alien lying to get what he/she wants? Punish the illegals. Give the citizens a break. What do you think?

Answer:
I saw something on TV where 1000's of kids were crossing the Mexican border daily to come to our schools here. Obviously their parents lied about where they live and aren't even contributing to the system. Some of these schools are a nightmare and I wouldn't blame a mom for doing that. We all can't afford private schools like the wealthy can.

Yes they should fight to better their schools. I guess the difference is you get what your community puts in and many communitites don't have a good tax base to work from. I know around here they just change the dividing line all the time and bus kids around. So we get gangs all equally and fairly.
That's why the voucher system was such a hot topic a few years ago. I don't care if a person is a citizen or not. Laws are laws, they should be followed. We need to be role models, and show that we can follow our own laws if we expect others to do so.
Same crap - you want a better life for your kids, then maybe you shouldnt have hads them when you couldnt afford to live in a good area. Ding!

She should be charged.,
I think that this country has begun it's final plunge down that toilet of history. We have made peoples rights more of a suicide pact that helping anyone succeed. Sadly, I think we deserve the fate we are getting.
Well why didn't she fight in her own neighborhood to make the school better?
hahahaha good answer Anti.

Do as I say, not as I do...!
I think we need to go to a Dutch style system. They don't do much right over their, but there education system is top notch!.
Every child gets $10000 to go to any school of their choice, as long as the school meets state requirements. The school can be catholic, Jewish Muslim, mechanical, mathematics base or what ever. As long as they can attract enough students they will stay in business.
Those schools that fail their students will lose them to better schools.
And because the state is not enforcing a specific religion it meet the requirements of separation of church and state.

Anyone who is opposed to my plan, hate children!

As for the illegals I am so pissed right not they need to be deported immediately!.
I think it made the news because its abnormal for anyone to be jailed for something like this.

To truly treat the US citizen similarly, I think she would have to pay $5000 for the violation, her child would have to spend 4-8 years on a Z ticket while waiting for better enforcement at the new school, which of course would result in some mocking and harrassment, and then the kid would be required to return to the original school to file an out of district waiver to go back to the new school as a full-fledged student.
