In Southern or Northern California, We Mexicans conduct businesses in Spanish. Do U have a problem with that ?
Whites, Yellows, Browns, Blacks, Reds, or Pinks, or Blues in California agree that Spanish Language is our official Second Language.
The Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution :
This amendment established the constitutional basis for the educational rights of language minority students.
Guaranteed that no State can make or enforce any law abridging the privileges or immunities of citizens; nor deprive any person of life, liberty or property, or equal educational opportunities, without due process of law; nor deny equal protection of the laws.
In 1967 Governor Ronald Reagan signs SB 53, the legislation allowing the use of other languages of instruction in California public schools.
This bill overturned the 1872 law requiring English-only instruction.
Do you know the current laws in regard to Bilingual Education in CA ?
Answer:
Pretty soon everyone will be speaking Spanish. It is the closest thing to the native language of this land.
What's the trip on your head dude?
You may also be surprised to know that Germans make up the largest single group of Immigrants to the US. Funny...I don't see German anywhere...I guess because they came here to become American...
what a concept...
All I know is that bilingual education in California at the moment is a joke. All it really does is to teach kids how to be influent and dumb in two languages.
only if you accept pesos
No. I prefer companies that cater to both English and Spanish speaking customers.
I agree that you have a right to be here only if you get here legally. but if your going to live in this country than you should KNOW english and speak it.
I couldn't care less. I have a hard time believing you're Latino, though.
No, but why do you want to stay behind in society? Regardless of your belief, the vast majority of Californians speak and conduct business in English.
This is why the children of Mexican immigrants are encouraged to speak and learn the english language and the grandchildren can understand spanish, but generally have difficulties speaking it.
Learn English; speak English; pay your taxes. End of story. Got a problem with that? Take it south of the border.
considering California is now more than half hispanic...I need to learn spanish ! Mexicans are great family oriented people.its the illegals that are throwing off USA's economy !
did you know those students who speak spanish are illegal? if they aren't citizens why do they get our rights?
Thanks for the points mr troll
This is America..English is our primary language...as with other countries, this should be respected.try going to a European country and change their language and they will kick you out.quit trying to shove your Hispanic culture down our throats...go back to Mexico and try doing there what you are doing here.I bet the Mexican government would come down on you like flies on "****".if you want to retain your culture, go home.we don't want it here...
Pretty much yes! ~
I came to this country many years ago and learned the language. What's so special about you that you feel you shouldn't, and use it?
Regardless of what you claim, the naturalization law of the US specifically requires an applicant to be able to read and write the English language before he or she can become a naturalized American citizen.
Are We Becoming The Babel of the West?
Other nations resent the use of foreign languages being use in their country including our southern neighbors.
No problemamo with Mexican businesses speaking spanish. I don't so I won't use that service or visit that business.
In your recap of the 14 amendment "...Guaranteed that no State can make or enforce any law abridging the privileges or immunities of citizens..", CITIZEN is the key word.
I don't think Reagan couild have envisioned California schools being overrun with illegal immigrants or their childern.
Whatever. I guess you are bored troll.
Yes I do have a problem with that I am a american and we speak english but you come here and try to change what we fought and died for hell yea I have a problem with that
Having two languages destroys the American identity. It will be too easy to have a completely seperate culture if spanish becomes a dominant language. The melting pot won't melt. You won't have a unified United States of America instead you will have an two Americas in the US. It would be very troubling for democracry if we can not have one common language.
Maybe you missed the memo, but the US Congress just recently passed a law, stating that English is the official language of the US. Laws of the federal government are absolute, and nothing at the state level can violate any federal law.
It's just like when I visited Japan, Thailand, and other countries of SE Asia. They have their official language, and they can learn English as a courtesy, but they don't *have to* know English. Being in the US, you better learn to speak the language. I have a neighbor from Columbia, and he can barely speak English. He constantly tries to be neighborly, but speaks to me in Spanish! This is annoying, at best. And when I got places to go, it becomes a real pisser. Whatever country your in, be decent, and learn the local language. If you can't, then don't leave! That's why I stay mostly here.
well in 10 years 80% of California is going to be Mexicans at this rate.
It is very frustrating that they have all these spanish speaking bussinesses and stuff when this is America. We Americans speak English.
You don't see Germans, or Dutchs running bussinesses and speaking there native language. Yes it is great to know and fun to learn other languages. But if you can't speak English and moved to America to bring your ways, and heritage go back to south of the border.
it really bothers me and many many other people that Mexicans are pretty much going to take over the U.S.
We built that wall to keep illegal immigrants out.
People come here to be American not be Mexican but live in America.
Everyone else form different countries except the fact that your supposed to learn English, and become an American citizen, where as here you are stating that Mexicans are better and its our second language and they should be able to run bussiness speaking only spanish.
If you friggin live in America you shouldn't have to learn Spanish just to get around with daily life its an insult to Americans.
My wife is Chinese...came here legally, learned the language, became a Naturalized citizen, joined the Navy, got a college degree, conducts all business in English, carries on personal conversation with friends and family in Chinese.
I agree, the more languages you know, the better adapt you can be to different circumstances.
However, this is America, and I would expect that if you choose to live here, you not only do your best to learn our language, but you respect the fact that there are legal roads to becoming a citizen, without copping an attitude. That will get you nowhere except maybe beat up.
ps: my wife HATED bilingual education in NY. She said it deprived her of the chance of being FORCED to speak English. Probably dealt her a severe handicap. Thankfully the Navy put her in an English language class to help improve her abilities.
Feel free to home-school your students in Spanish at your own expense, not the tax payer's expense. Oh wait a minute.the illegals aren't paying taxes either. Well, better just to send them south of the border.problem solved!
Conduct your business as you see fit. Teaching another language in school is not the problem. The problem is people coming here and demanding I learn their language when they should learn the language of the country the moved to. I do believe those laws are in place for legal citizens.
I am from Pakistan, I Immigrated to California, and I learned Spanish to speak with the Californians.
I also learned English, because both languages are common here in California.
I have no problem with people who speak Spanish... but in most parts of the world it is considered rude to immigrat to another country and require that they speak your language instead of you learning theirs... as an American living in America I should not have to learn Spanish (or any other language) just to be able to go about my daily life...
I have a problem with you conducting business solely in Spanish in this country. legal United States citizens may have protection under the quoted 14th amendment. But it doesn't say a thing about Illegal residents having any rights. Are you a US citizen or an illegal.
I prefer companies that speak English and go out of my way to do business with them. There is an on-line toy company where you do not have to press 1 for Spanish. I buy most of my kids toys through them.
We speak English here in America, I do not see ANY other races demanding that we have forms in their language and demand that we cater to them. THEY are trying to assimilate and become Americans unlike many from south of the border.
Thanks to the FLOOD of illegals in southern California I have to send my son to a private school. I live in a historical district in my city. My home is over 100 years old and fully restored. The people who live in this district have had to send their children to Private schools because out neighborhood is surrounded by smaller hoses and apartments. Our neighborhood school is 95% Hispanic (YES 95 FRICKEN %). Before we enrolled our first child in any school I went to the public school and obsereved the Kindergarten class and the 1st grade class. The teachers were manily speaking spanish. HOW in the hell is MY child suppose to get an education in an envirment like this. It seems to me that this is a little backwards. the teachers should be teaching in english and forsing the students to learn english, NOT the other way around.
My neighbor tried sending her 2 blonde haired blue eyed boys to this school, she thought it would be a good experience for them. The boys were tortured and made fun of on a daily basis. So you tell me WHO is raciest??
