What is the value you can get in jail visiting?

I think you mean visiting someone in jail. Am I right? The other 2 answers above mine seem to think you are the one in jail, but I don't. There have been reality shows on TV about jail visiting. They would bring gangs in the prisons and have the convicts speak to them about the horrors of jail. Most went in there thinking it was a joke, but came out crying and terrified. Many changed the way they were living. It was scary. I think anyone who visits another in jail could benefit from information given to them. I don't know if you are a Christian, but God tells us we should visit those in jail and bring the word of God to them and try and give them some peace. Some of these people in jail never had a real family life and their life was basically on the street. Just knowing that someone actually cares about them, could help that person a great deal. You could make an impact on someone by being there for them just to talk. It's good therapy for them. I commend you for thinking of visiting people in jail. I hope I answered this question right. allot of times just visiting a person in jail that may not have any family etc...just knowing that hey maybe some one does care might help that person get their life back in order and stay out of jail....if you have issues talking to someone on the inside might keep u from winding up on the inside looking out...if u attend church talk to your minister about maybe doing some ministerial work at the jail handing out bibles, etc..really hard to say the value might be greater than u expected
You can actually see how Inmates, aka prisoners have to live while being there and maybe hopefully you will come to the conclusion that you should live an honest and honorable life so that you will not be placed behind bars yourself in your later life.
Years ago when I practiced Law in Ohio and had clients who had problems with their teenage kids I would suggest that they take their kids to visit the local Jail - as well as the local Unemployment Office and not to say anything about it until asked why they were being taken to these places.
The objective was to show them how they could end up if they did not pay attention and study hard in school so that they could get a good job - as well as how they could possibly end up if they decided to "go astray of the law"!
You would be surprised with the number of clients that called me back saying that their kid did a complete turn around after visiting these places!
