My boyfriend is italian...i am a legal resident..can he become a resident if we get married?
Answer:
He cannot become a resident right away, but he can get a visa that needs to be renewed every few months or so. After one year this little ceremony or something comes up and he becomes a resident of the USA. But, if I were you I would learn Italian and move to Italy were my ancestors came from.
Immigration laws have changed since 9/11. It's not an automatic anymore that if you marry, you can speed up the citizenship process. They would have to go through the same process as everyone else and a very intensive background search.
Long time but you can blame the sand people
Will take at least 2 years. Might take longer depending on individual situations.
Not right away. The wait for a visa, after you are married, will be about 5 years, not 2 years. If you were a US citizen there would be no wait.
NO. He can get a visa, green card or what ever, but he has to do the citizenship thing like anyone else.
