Texans who have moved to Canada?
If so, what are the advantages and disadvantages of Canada in comparison to Texas?
Also, is it very difficult to adjust to the weather in Canada, compared to Texas weather?
Any help would be megabrilliant - thank you so much!
Answer:
My fiance has been up to Canada several times in the last 2 years from Texas. He always hated the heat in Texas and loves the weather up here. He laughs every time someone complains about the heat (anything above 72/22). He's been here to shovel snow, in our coldest months, and I put more winter wear on than he does.
Canada has about 33 billion people, Texas has 20! A lot of the landscape is the same, between Alberta and Texas, except we have prettier mountains! Healthcare is a lot different. Although, not free in Canada, more is covered for less and you don't have to have the best job to get it.
What else do you want to know? What part of Canada are you considering?
The weather in Canada varies depending on the location. In Winnipeg for instance it can go down to -50 C with the windchill in the winter but the summers have been compared to the type of heat found in Las Vagas. The west coast doesn't get much snow and isn't very cold with the exception of higher altitudes in the mountains. There is a lot of rain on the west coast too.
A friend and his wife were transferred to Western Canada several years ago. They were there for two years, never made the adjustment, and are now happily back in Ft. Worth. They say the people are great and the scenery is the best. The weather and taxes were the primary factors in their dislike.
