I heard that they want to change the Green Card process to look at education and skill set instead of family status? Will this make it easier for an educated person to get a Green Card? Will it make it tougher for an uneducated, and often illegal immigrant to get permanent residency? Won't a Z-visa be like a green card in that the unskilled laborer can work anywhere?

Don't know if it will be easier, but it's more expensiver to get the proper paperwork done.
Intrestingly, those who were illegal and who will get worker status will be among those who oppose continued illegal immigation as it then threatens their ability to make a living if their work has no value. Illegal immigration was made possible by businesses looking for ways around the US labor laws and business people along with illegals cheapened the value of labor. They ain't all gardners pal, they are working as ironworkers for $10.00 an hour and paying no taxes. With reform those current illegals will suffer the same fate from future illegals. It will hurt their ability to earn a living because they will have to be legal and pay taxes. Funny, kinda.
