Can an ex felon fix my status?

As a Canadian citizen i have overstayed my stay here in the U.S., my gf is willing to marry me(American citizen)Could my status be fixed? How would that work?

Answer:
citizenship is not automatic if you marry a u.s citizen. you still have to apply. that can take month or years. so in theory, you could marry her, but to become a citizen, you have to fill out the paperwork and wait in Canada.
why not he or she can still do a good job they are still hurman to thats they pass so just move let them fix it
