What do you think of this idea for handling the illegal immigrant issue in the U.S.?

What if before we actually come up with a solution to the U.S. illegal immigrant problem, we require that all illegal immigrants who want a chance of remaining in the U.S. *legally* to register. Once that is done, then Congress/President can decide what to do. At least at that point we can get a handle on the numbers of people, their backgrounds, their locations, etc. etc. Of course, the risk to the immigrant is that then we'll know where they are and can more easily deport them if it is so decided. But if it is specified that without registering the chances of legally staying are reduced significantly, then perhaps it might work. I'm not proposing a solution (which is hairy to say the least), just a method to go forward.

That method was done once before in this country,back in the 40's I believe. All those here illegally had to register. No fines,,just register so we knew who was here and where they were. Those who chose not to register,if found,would be sent home. As long as those that registered remained on good behavior,they had nothing to worry about. But,a method like this requires that those who are here illegally are honest and do the right thing and properly register. I would question whether this new wave of illegals would even bother.

I don't think US government/Laws should force and harass people who wish to live on the Land. Although I don't have anything to do with them but I believe every one have their own desire and choice they can live wherever they want, in fact you must know that majority of people in US are foreigners who occupied and making the different laws, it seems that "My belly is full, now I don't care for others"
US is a big country and I think it need more and more people. Who we are to make laws...?

1. Spay or neuter and deport those who do not leave within 60 days (or those who enter thereafter). You can avoid the spay / neuter portion if you enact #2.

2. Eliminate anchor baby citizenship. It is a bogus interpretation of the Constitution and no other nation in the world allows this.

3. Fine and jail people who hire illegal aliens.

Comprehensive immigration legislation you can fit on a postcard.
The only way to fix the immigration process. Don’t make it that difficult to come into this country. And make it easier to become a citizen. That would even make it easier to locate possible terrorist. If the government would send paper work to keep them informed on what to do next to become a citizen. I believe they would do what it takes. If they don’t want to become citizen. Then we could start asking why they don’t and deport them. I don’t think terrorist want to become citizens, do you?
