Can an Irish citizen working in Canada take a weekend vacation to the US?

If an Irish citizen is working in Canada on a 6-month Canadian visa can he/she fly to the US for a weekend vacation? (They do have a passport). Help...my friend wants to visit me!

hard to say. US border control is being retarded right now. i'm a US citizen and they barely let me back in after i went to canada for the weekend.. you should try talking to the US embassy or something.
probally if he/she bought a passport.
They will still need to get a visa. Get them to contact the US embassy nearest them in Canada
