Criminal immigration prosecutions fall steeply last year?

This is a slightly different picture than the administration is trying to paint, don't you think?

Answer:
Just based on this one story - I don't see enough to really form an opinion.

Numbers are down on prosecutions. No shock there. Especially if one considers what happened to the two border guards that were jailed after shooting a known two time loser breaking immigration and drug smuggling laws.

I did notice from the article that prosecutions in Texas. But that is only because of them getting together locally in Del Rio area. They all local and federal authorities into a form of 'task force' because problems were so bad in that area. Now when illegals are arrested there, they don't get released - or no bail. They are held in custody till trial. When convicted of entering illegally, they are held 3 months before they get a flight back to Mexico City. There is no more 'catch and release' at the border so that they can try and enter again.

Coincidentally - captures are now WAY DOWN in that area because they are going else where they are not going to be stuck in a jail cell.

It is a 'miracle' how enforcement of existing immigration law works.
Not at all. They want you to believe it is not a criminal activity. I personally do not see why they give so much attention to traffic violations, but illegal immigration is a felony. It is a farce that all they want to do is work, the original wave was undoubtedly for it, but know it is the rift raft.
They experimented with trying everybody they caught at the border with the federal crime of entering illegally for a while and the courts got tired of it. Too many cases on the docket, jails too overcrowded, too much money spent prosecuting and jailing people they could just deport. FYI, they are not talking about deportation prosecutions or criminal (like burglary) prosecutions. They are talking about prosectuting people for coming illegally, separate and apart from deporting them. They don't get bond on those cases, so usually by the time they get to the sentencing stage, the guy has already served the term he would have gotten, then he gets deported, so it was a waste of time and money. The only thing it was supposed to do was deter people from coming in and I guess they decided that goal was not worth the cost.
If the Democraps get in power, their will never be any prosections..NEVER
It seems like George Bush has become pretty open about his acceptance of the illegal invasion on our southern border. And hell, he has nothing to lose, he's got all the money he needs to shield himself and his kids from the common folks. He is playing right into the hands of the far left liberals like Teddy Kennedy who are pushing for blanket amnesty. We desperately need a real leader to step up and defend American citizens and our interests. It seems like George Bush and Gonzo are more interested in prosecuting Border Patrol agents than border jumpers.
