This is from today's paper from where I live.
It's being called racism here too. If this system is broken how is giving them amnesty going to fix it?

Ask 99% of people who call for enforcement of immmigration laws and you'll find a desire to oust ALL illegals, whether black, white, brown, or otherwise.
This is most certainly not a race issue, and for anyone to call it that is grasping for straws.

do i believe that most anti immigration banter is fueled by racism? Absolutely.
Do i believe that the illegal immigrants deserve any form of amnesty ? Absolutely not.
Just because they are honest hard working individuals doesn't change anything. just because they are poor in mexico and came over here to make money doesn't change anything. Pulls on my heart strings yes but doesn't add anything to a vote for amnesty. I think that if the US chooses to grant them amnesty, it's not because they deserve it. What they deserve really is to be deported and then they can come into the country (now that hey are richer and can afford to immigrate legally) the legal way. The US can decide to give them amnesty if it is going to be advantageous to us, otherwise, I disagree with amnesty on the basis of what they deserve or even on the basis of human rights. Technically, they should be talking to their own native govt (Mexico) about their human rights not a foreign govt. What type of sense does it make.
Having said this, i will not wish their situation on my family. It is a difficult situation and i feel for them but again, they do not deserve amnesty.

Even if it is racist why does that matter? Illegal is illegal it is that simple if you want to come here do so legally and embrace America as your homeland change and conform to the laws and traditions of this great country don't expect the rest of us to bend for you. I am so tired of people trying to throw race into a question that is about the legal standing of a group of criminals
How do the words illegal and racism get into one sentence? I hear on and on about the honest hard-working illegal immigrants, is that an oxymoron? How can a criminal be honest and good? I don't care if you're here illegally form any other country on the globe, you're a criminal, you need to leave our country much like the uninvited people who try to crash parties. Only this party means the downfall of our nation as we know it and it ruins all hopes for our country to be passed on to the children of our children. And that we'll be totally bankrupt and unable to provide education and social security for any of our progeny. I think that's serious enough to give us a right to demand their exportation.
I am shocked by the shortage of critical thinking skills in the U.S. Over simplified, half baked, narrow, uninformed opinions...
Until we address the causes for migration, this global issue will not have a solution. Am I suggesting that we give aid, aid, aid? No, this would just be a band-aid on a gaping wound. Fair trade, not aid.
The U.S. needs to evaluate and reform all the economic and social policies purported by the government and financial institutions that affect everyone around the world: NAFTA, IMF, WTO, etc.
Let's talk holistic, real solutions people.

Amnesty is giving the illegal immigrants exactly what they want. To work and live in the US. I don't understand why they keep calling it racism. Illegal and race. They are different. Illegals are sooooo ignorant. They really shouldn't be here if they can't even understand why we are so upset.
2.5 miilion got amnesty 20 t years ago now we are here. dont make this same mistake again it is killing our economy
