Why are we rewarding immigrants for being illegal?
Answer:
Crime pays. Ask the republicans.
Money! The federal gov't is not very burdened by illegal immigrants, it's the local governments where the immigrants are largely located that are. It would cost the federal government a lot more to do the research to find these people and get them out. That's the bottom line.

SANTA FE, N.M. -- The Santa Fe Police Department is having trouble filling police jobs, so it is looking into the possibility of recruiting Mexican nationals.
Sergeants Gillian Alessio and Marvin Paulk are in charge of the department's recruiting and training.
They said on Tuesday that they're trying to think of alternative methods of filling 20 vacancies on the city's 155-person police force.
But Santa Fe Police Chief Eric Johnson said New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy regulations prohibit non-citizens from serving as police officers.
Alessio said the Santa Fe police force, like others around the country, is vying to recruit the same 21- to 30-year-olds as the U.S. military.
Alessio said the national need for military recruits is taking a toll on the police department.

Because both parties are pandering for votes. Nobody--Democrat or Republican--wants to take a hard stance on immigration because nobody wants to be seen as "racist" or "xenophobic." So it will keep happening, this illegal immigration mess, and with our federal entitlement programs drained and our tax dollars thrown away and our cities festering with crime and violence and our healthcare system paralyzed and our language degraded and our culture diluted and our national security compromised...
...until our politicians manage to string up a pair and start protecting our national economic and security interests, or until we legal, naturalized citizens start taking matters into our own hands to make sure our borders are secure and our tax dollars are not abused.
Thank you for immigrating legally and setting a positive example for people to follow. Really, illegal immigration is not fair to people like you who follow the rules and respect the country they're coming to. I wish the 20 milllion illegals in America could meet you so they could see how truly wrong they are.

There was a time when people of slightly darker skin color or different eye shape would not be accepted as immigrants to US. So if I were you I would learn to appreciate the fact that the immigration laws in US are becoming more liberal. You should also learn to be thankful for all those illegal workers who are taking the lowest paying jobs without any real benefits (no health insurance no retirement plans etc) so that you do not have to pay extra for basic services. There are basically no American citizens who are willing to pick up peaches for a few dollars an hour and no benefits. So actually illegal workers are not a burden on the economy but the opposite and most of them are hard working people trying to make a very modest living. But of course it feels better to boast about your incredible citizenship skills (you worked real hard to pass the citizenship test) and your good fortune (so that you or your family had the means to get into the US legally at the first place) and complain about those lowly illegal immigrants who serve you food at your local fast food chain.
I completely agree with you. However, you have to put yourself in those people's shoes. Im not for, or against it. I dont sit here and criticize people that are struggling to be here legally and honestly you shouldnt either. Especially because u know how hard it is and what an accomplishment it is once you have your citizenship/residency. Im not sure how it is that you came to be legal here but imagine everyone being against something that you want so bad?
thats just my opinion. I am not defending or judging people that are here illegaly because im not in their shoes. the only thing i disagree with is people that come to this country and commit crimes. ♥

Let's look at the demographics. The most powerful, richest country in the world, and in walking distance an economically challenged third world country. If it was your parents watching you grow up with out a hope of a decent education, medical care and indoor plumbing what would they do? Our whole history is built on peoples getting to our borders any way they could for just a piece of what we take for granted. Taking jobs that some of us never knew existed. So like spoiled children when a sibling picks up a discarded toy , suddenly that toy is the most important thing in the world. The USA will spend billions on the other side of the planet, but, almost nothing for our neighbors to the south. Do not think that the U.S. does not have a contingency plan if invasion where to come from the south that they would expect the Mexican people to at least slow these hypothetical invaders down. Study the problem carefully and come up with solutions before demonizing a whole generation of down trodden humanity.
