Is it possible to enter a country with one passport and leave with a different one?

I entered the US on my American passport on the 28th of May,and I'm leaving the US on the 17th of June. My US passport expires on the 12th of June. Is it possible to leave the US on my Israeli passport?

Answer:
Yes one has nothing to do with the other, since you have dual citizenship upon returning to the Us you must return as a US citizen with a valid passport. When leaving the US on a foreign passport you are subject to that countries rules and regulations and are not entitled to protection from that countries laws as a US citizen. You may enter the Us on a foreign passport but will be looked upon as a Israeli national and will be subject to length of stay restrictions.

Good luck
Sounds too fishy to me,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes you can do that, if you have both nationalities
I should think so. But you might have trouble coming back unless you take care of it. Check with the state department to be sure, though.
any documents can be forged. any person (given the resources) can change their identity and how they appear to others standing two feet away. i can come to your home dressed as a fat black woman or i can appear as an elderly asian man. you wouldn't know the difference.
Of course it is, but I would recommend that (if you haven't already) you should get a renewal on that American passport.
People with dual citizenship do it all the time. Canadian/American's enter the US on their American passport and Canada on their Canadian passport. Although I guess it would depend on where you were headed (if you haven't thought this one out already) I wouldn't recommend if you are going to an Arabic country that you leave the USA with an Israeli passport, better to stay put until your renewal comes through. You might also consider that whatever countries passport you leave with and therefore enter into another country your entrance will be subject to the rules that country has with the country you are entering (too many words huh).
Yes its ok to use either passport. I have heard of people flying to Canada with their Canadian passport one day and flying back to the USA the next with their American passport.
Yes IF they are both legal documents.
You should be able to leave on either passport but you may have trouble getting back into the USA if you don't have a valid USA passport.

If you really have to travel, leave on your USA one, arrive in on your Israeli one, call the embassy wherever you're at and tell them that your passport expired (they'll give you an emergency one to get back) and then arrive home in the USA on the emergency passport. I think it would be very hard to get back into the States if you didn't have an valid USA passport and trying to get back in on your Israeli one (with the USA one expired) may cause some problems at the USA airports.
