African American slaves V.S. illegal aliens.?
and yes i know that slaves were brought in the country legally but i am obviously relating to the ethical question here.
it was wrong to bring slaves here and they were not asked to go back..then why are we considering the illegal Mexicans to be deported. Something is ethically imbalanced here and i think it has to do more with modern day racism then the issue of illegal aliens.

You are making a race issue out of your question. Why is it only african american slaves? People act as if the only slaves in the world were african american. In the history of the world, all races and ethnicities have been slaves at one time or another.
If you want to make a race issue out of the immigration, are illegal Chinese immigrants sent home? What about illegal Russians? The answer is yes. Yet Mexicans come here illegally and now they may be granted amnesty. To me this has nothing to do with race, it has to do with the issue of it being illegal. The color of your skin or where you came from doesn't matter, what does is that you have done an illegal act.

The law that allowed the Africans to be brought here (legal slavery) was struck down, and rightfully so
The law that disallows illegal Mexicans from being here is being ignored, wrongfully so

Ethically, it was wrong to even pose this question. There is no correlation between the slaves and the illegal aliens.
Actually, after the Civil War, former slaves were given the opportunity to go to Liberia, a country set up for them to be run by them. Very few left. Passage was paid if they wanted. Anyway, slavery and illegals crossing borders violating the laws of the land have nothing in common. That's a real stretch to compare those two circumstances.

You said it yourself, the slaves were forced to come here, and at the time of their emancipation they had no home in Africa to return to, most if not all were born into slavery because acquiring new slaves from Africa had been outlawed already.
Illegal immigrants came here all on their own, knowing it was illegal. They do have homes to go back too, in the form of family & friends.
it's the illegal immigrants who did something wrong towards America. Blacks earned the right to stay, because they helped build our country. Illegal immigrants actually take away from our country. WHat ethical imbalance is there?

As I understand it...African American slaves were sold to us by their own kind.and then they were brought into our country.
Some owners were good and respected - they provided hope- slaves last named themselves the same. but some were cruel and ignorant.- and should never have been sold slaves to. Slaves were controlled and had no choice.
On the other hand.Illegal alliens are a forceful group..being the big bully. Their relatives don't want to follow right proceedures. They prefer to be above the law.

We are having the same problem in Toronto with "illegal" Portuguese in our construction industry. The reason they stay...if you can't find the labour from within, you have to look elsewhere.
After using these people to do the jobs that noone else would, the least our country can do is let them stay to live the Canadian dream..or in the case of the Mexicans, the American dream.
Well your enticing American nature is what will also make it OK for Mexicans to not get deported even if it were possible without some civil war in our backyards,landmarks,plus for all the social injustices.

You are correct ...the slaves did not enter the country under their own will and they did not do so illegally. I tend do want anyone OUT OF MY COUNTRY that by their very fist action upon coming here, THEY BREAK THE LAW.
It sets a very suspicious precedent as to what their other actions are going to be in MY COUNTRY. Our constitution protects the CITIZENS of MY country. Illegal does not equal citizen(never did.Never will)!
By the time American slaves were Emancipated, the vast majority had been BORN IN AMERICA, not imported from Africa... so they were actually native-born AMERICANS. And after Emancipation, American slaves who wished to do so were returned to Africa to a country called LIBERIA...
Liberia was formed for African Slaves from the USA to return to. The freed slaves who did not wish to go to Liberia became free American Citizens.

Slavery and illegal immigration can't be compared. Like you said slaves really didn't have a choice, and they couldn't afford go back home if they wanted too; in more ways than one.
There's a derogatory image associated with aliens that I don't completely agree with. As Americans we will do whatever it takes to preserve our way of life and having millions invade our country would make us feel like aliens. I understand that America is a country with a clash of cultures but a huge clash could devastatingly impact our society. A clash of cultures also has to have a quota.
Millions right now are complain about losing jobs to immigrants who will work for lower wages. The truth is we're losing jobs cause we're outsourcing to China and India, but for some reason we target the group closest to us, who illegal come into America for a better life. If they legally joined out country I wouldn't complain because their tax dollars are also contributing but we can't share the same benefits without the same sacrifice.
I cannot say I am against or for aliens but we can't deal with the population we have now. An increase will only mean increased taxes and decrease the standard of living.

Your wrong about one thing (at least one thing): Lincoln DID suggest (or "ask") the blacks to leave and live in Central America, as he truly thought blacks and whites would never integrate in society. Look it up.
This question is very insulting.It is true that ex-slaves were offered a way out of the states if they wanted it. Most were born into slavery.Black Americans have helped in many ways to make our country great.I for one am glad that most of them decided to stay.They are Americans as much as any other group in the US.
