Do you think immigration will be a big issue in the Presidential campaign? Has it hurt McCain?

Answer:
I sincerely hope immigration will be very near the top of the list of issues. If the candidates are listening to the people, REALLY listening to the citizens of the USA, then they will come up with some strong proposals on what they plan to do about illegal immigration and stop talking about "paths to citizenship and amnesty or amnesty that isn't really amnesty," etc. I hope it has hurt McCain, but I doubt that he thinks so. These guys/gals just don't seem to get it! They had better stop trying to brush off questions about immigration and stop trying to avoid the issue - doing that alone should hurt them in their campaigns. We want to hear proposals about border security and immigration that are going to REALLY do something about illegal immigration and no more bandaids.
Yes and Yes
It should be the biggest issue in 2008...no one has the guts to really raise hell about it!!! Being from Arizona, liberal Sen. Mccain should be a leader against the illegals!!
my vote is not moving, it's with tancredo.
Yes it will be a huge issue and I think the fact that McCain keeps saying stupid things will hurt him more than anything else. He needs to think about his words a little more because even though I'm middle of the road he was looking like the best candidate for awhile.
Yes it sure should be, this is the war we should all have our eyes on. Yes it sure has hurt McCain, we need someone to take a very hard line on illegal aliens, like Hunter or Tancredo.
Yes, without a doubt. People want someone who is in office who will UPHOLD AND PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION AND THESE United States AGAINST INVADERS!!

I know I for one am tired of the Politicians only doing things to protect themselves and not standing up for this country.
huge issue. the people will see through the guile of these politicians and demand action. this will be without question the deciding factor of the presidential election. tancredo for president.
it will be for me!!
Yes I certainly do feel it will be a huge issue in the 2008 elections.
And I feel that McCain's chances grow slimmer with each day that passes. Hes a good man on a personal level and fought bravely for this nation while in the military. His time as a POW proved he is a strong person. But I personally will not vote for him. I am from his state of Arizona and his stance on illegal aliens is not popular with the general public in our state.

Republicans said they thought Mr. McCain’s identification with the push for easing immigration laws could prove to be among his greatest vulnerabilities. “Senator McCain will be hurt badly if he continues to support a bill like last time,” said Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican of Alabama. “I think he’ll have a hard time defending that piece of legislation. I think it would be important for him to demonstrate that his position on immigration is not defined by the bill that he introduced last time.”
