I think the American citizens got their message through to our deaf - dumb & blind congress. It took a lot of effort but they found out that we KNOW the existing policy, though flawed, is better than the JUNK legislation they were proposing.
First, secure the borders and enforce current laws.
Then, work on correcting the problems with new legislation, well thought out and NOT just thrown together!

While I don't disagree with your theory, I have a problem with ANYONE breaking the laws of this country. If pot smokers/dealers are in jail for their drug involvement, then they BROKE THE LAW, just like the 12-20 million illegal criminal aliens.
I believe potheads are also locked up because they commit crimes to fuel their addiction which leads to harder drugs, killing innocent people with driving under the influence. Both groups should be treated the same - jail time.
If idiot are bent on becoming burnouts move to Holland or Mexico, it's that easy.

pot will NEVER be legalized in the U.S. in your lifetime..DEAL WITH IT. it sounds like you have smoked too much already, comparing destitute parents and family members who flee poverty to come here and earn a meager living for their starving families, to a bunch of morons who insist on living their lives in a drug induced stupor. immigration reform WILL come soon, it is a HUMAN rights issue and the right thing to do. as for drug laws, good luck with that dream, you're going to need it.
