I work in the US under a TN Visa. If I marry an American will I be able to keep &/or renew this Visa?

I am a Registered Nurse from Canada and work in California under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with a TN-1 Visa. Am I breaking the law if I marry an American (I am supposed to be married in July). Will I be able to keep my work visa and my job if I get married? What do I need to do?

Answer:
It doesn't sound like you want to become a US citizen. Of course, you can apply for a Green Card after you're married, but if you want to stay a Canadian citizen, that is fine too. You can continue to work on your TN visa as long as your intent is to stay "temporary". When you decide to stay in the US permanently, you are no longer eligible for TN status. That being said, you may need to keep a place in Canada to ensure that you're maintaining your temporary intent. Being married doesn't change that you're a Canadian citizen unless you want it to, so your TN visa should be untouched by this.
after you are married, you need to get a green card.
Hey get marry, and then apply for you legal residence thats all...Not problem at all you are not breaking the law at all...Just that when you got to apply for yhe Green card is your spouse the american citizen that have to fill the application and turn in to Inmigration they will want to know how you are living in the US and work etc..Then you give a copy or originals but yourself a copy of everything to send to Inmigration you have to give the the proof of how you live here...Thats all and then you case will became easy that in about 6 months to 9 you will became a legal residence and 3 years fron after the you been a legal residence then you can became an american citizen.
