Are you tired of the lie Americans wont work?
Answer:
Yes, very tired of it. It's a crock of crap.
Yes, I am very tired of that lie.
Try telling a celery farmer in the Central Valley that Americans want to harvest his crop for his above the California minimum wage salary of $8.50 per hour and get ready to see a man rolling around on the ground laughing so hard he's crying!
By the way, this is as true today as it was in 1965 when the Bracero Program got sh!t-canned.
Get it through your head that there ARE (some) jobs that Americans are not interested in doing and, since they apparently have other options, they're not going to get interested in doing them.
Many many americans work 2 jobs . . .
Who says they won't work ? The IRS knows better !
The problem isn't that Americans won't work; it's that Americans won't work for LESS. Many illegal immigrants will work for salaries much below minimum wage and many employers hire them in an attempt to save money. It's definitely not a good thing. Illegal immigrants, while they may have decent intentions in our nation, cost our gov't millions of unnecessary dollars a year in health care, etc. If an immigrant really wants to better themselves in the states then they should obtain legal citizenship.
Pro-illegal alien criminals lie all the time!
Wages are set by the Company, not by the individual... its the greed of capitalism. I doubt Swift is the only company guilty of this
Yes...if the GOVERNMENT would stop OUTSOURCING OUR JOBS and rewarding illegals...REAL AMERICANS would have jobs that pay good money and healthcare for their families....The GOV'T are the ones who give American jobs away....Shame on us the voters for not stopping them....but they'd probably steamroll us anyway!!!
and to the guy above who says americans don't want those jobs...why not give the to the homeless or to a convict...Americans NEED these jobs!!!
Its a myth there are no jobs Americans wont do only wages we cant afford to work for or cant live on and therefore wont work for if the Illegals weren't here then the people who need these jobs done would be forced to cut their profit and pay what these jobs are worth or force the Government to relax the out of control taxes and social spending.
It is funny how well me built this country setting on our asses. The CEO's think this because that's all they do.
jerks
After those wonderful immigration raids at those meat packing plants, there were American citizens lining up around the block to simply apply for the jobs that were vacated by the illegals.
Yes, I get so tired of this lie. A lot of people I know have to work 2 and 3 jobs in order to make ends meet because of low labor costs and lack of medical care. If something happens to their family that require medical attention, the doctors and hospitals demand at least 60 percent of the possible bill up front or you have to sign your life away. If you miss one payment you are dragged into court and a lot of the times the lawyers representing the hospitals are regarded as laws unto themselves and do not even have to go in front of a judge. I know of one lawyer in the town where I live that represents the hospitals interests and he literally takes jewelry off of people that owe the hospital and tells them that they might get it back after the bill is paid. The county seems to turn their head the other way. But yet we Americans are a lazy lot. Give me a break.
THAT IS NOT OUR ARGUEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
We are tired of Americans that think they deserve more than the market clearing wage for a SPECIFIC job in a capitalistic economy.
What you want is no different than welfare- you just want to remove the government as a middleman.
Those who are too weak, lazy, or genetically flawed need to die off or evolve!!!!!! Or I guess they could move to Europe and frolic with the rest of the socialists.
Why can't you anti-immigrationists get it through your heads that we are compensated based on how the market values our labor, not how "hard" we work.
In addition, why are you people so dense that you think everything except wages will be held constant if the country is purged of illegals? Even a first year econ student can figure out that labor is a normal good (as prices rise, consumption declines). And yet, you think that the basic tenants of human nature don't apply to you for no other reason than you can't compete with illegals who do the jobs that I would be embarrassed to do.
Lets pretend for a moment that your moronic intuition about wages increasing, while everything else is held constant is accurate. Exactly what are you going to spend that money on if productivity does not change? Prices will rise new market clearing levels and you will be left right back where you are- give or take. But then you won't have illegals to blame because they have all been deported.
Sick and tired
If the illegal alien invader job pool dried up the wages would go up and higher paying jobs would open up
Build the wall
deport them all when found
Jail employers of the illegal alien invader rejects
This is a lie being told so that companies can bring in cheap labor & boost the profit line. This is a slap in the face to Americans. Everyone knows the work ethic of Americans. We are the can do nation. There is no job that we won't do to earn a living but some companies don't want to pay a living wage to an American; so bring in cheap labor! These companies want to sell to Americans & at the same prices as before; if not higher, than when Americans did the job. Also, they can treat the cheap laborer's any way they want. Long hours, no breaks, dirty work places etc. Take a look at the companies that have left for cheaper labor, they get all types of breaks from these countries & some of these countries offer almost slave labor to them. Yet we let them import these goods back into the U.S. & sell at high prices; just as though it was made here. Time for some tough measures to stop this type of behavior from the Big Businesses that seem to be running this country.
I am tired of it.
If we are to believe those who say Americans won't work for so little money as Mexicans then we should understand what they are telling us is that the Mexicans are willing to drag the United States down to shlthole level of Mexico and after they have ruined the U.S. I guess they will move on and ruin Canada.
Yes.
"For African-Americans, the departure of the Hispanics was a boon. Lisa Shinhoster, 45, and Chris Butler, 22, heard about Crider when an acquaintance of a Crider recruiter walked into an after-hours bar where they were playing cards and announced to the patrons: "Anybody want a job?" The two were soon working at the plant gutting chickens.
For Mr. Royals, the new opportunities at Crider amounted to a windfall after months of erratic work through a temporary labor agency. A high-school dropout who earned his General Equivalency Diploma two years ago, Mr. Royals previously worked nights at a succession of factory jobs. He had just been laid off for the second time in a month when Ms. Paulk came home with word of the Crider recruiter.
Mr. Royals went to Crider with a plan to work as many hours as possible -- he sometimes worked 17 hours a day -- and earn enough to save for a new home and pay off bills. His wife recently took a full-time job as a private nurse for an elderly woman and attends classes at a technical college to earn a license as a practical nurse.
Mr. Royals rose daily before dawn, often eating a breakfast of grits, eggs and sausage served shortly after 5 a.m. at the Crider cafeteria. Mr. Royals was assigned to the plant's packing department, where his squat burly frame and muscular arms made him a natural fit, lifting crates of processed chicken. He says he enjoyed the physical nature of the work and the quick pace made the hours go by quickly.
But for some of the African-American workers who surged into the plant, the unexpected chance to work at Crider didn't turn out well. They described long, arduous schedules, alleged health and safety hazards, and unrelenting supervisors. A Crider spokeswoman says the allegations are the sentiment of "people who are not intent on working."
On Oct. 10, Barbara Smiley, a gregarious and tall 42-year-old from Mount Vernon, about two hours away, was reaching for a chicken that had fallen off a conveyor belt when she smacked her head into a solid steel pole. She went to the nurse's station for an ice pack and then the bathroom to wash down a pain reliever. She says her supervisor reprimanded her for leaving her post, igniting an argument. Ms. Smiley was fired.
"They cussed at me," Ms. Smiley said after the incident , a lump visible in center of her forehead in the shape of a half-dollar coin. "I'm 42 years old. If you cuss at me, I'm going to cuss you back."
The company spokeswoman said Ms. Smiley suffered a mild injury and quit but couldn't confirm other details of the incident."
The end of the article says they just can't hack it with troublesome Americans, so they are bussing in Hmong refugees, hoping that will work out better.
Raising wages to where they had been in the 90s, of course, is not something they've tried yet.

Yes I am tired of it, but it’s many parts to this issue. The fact of the matter is American will not pay Americans decent wages to do the work. Our country is founded on greed and exploitation. We call it capitalism, but that is the backbone of our economy. Historically, slavery, indentured servants, and the exploitation of virtually every race or ethnic group on earth can be cited as part of the economic growth and development of this nation. Look at the shoe industry now. We pay $100 for Nike’s that cost them $10-20 to make including labor, shipping and materials. American business seeks that type of return on every investment. Our individual ignorance and national arrogance makes us think that people simply want the crumbs we throw at them for the opportunity to be here. In my area I see crews of Latinos doing plenty of carpentry, construction, landscaping, etc. I am old enough to remember when blacks transitioned for whites doing a lot of that same work. I am making an assumption that some of them are illegal, but the growth in the workers has been exponential in a short time. My issue is those jobs are decent jobs that can support families. But, what does America do to support its own people, nothing. So, as usual, we as a nation we turn our back and watch illegal immigration skyrocket to exploit cheap labor. Picking fruit and vegetables is another story. Can a farmer afford to pay $8-10 an hour to pick fruit, probably so if it were not for the next guy in line attaining his profit margin.
I would say everyone knows that Americans are known for killing themselves with work, not brainwork but, apparently not everyone does. Mexicans are hardworking and that's where they can win out the problem comes when they don't want to work honestly. I'm not saying all but, a majority.
p.s. it's really terrible when you have to clarify everything you say by, coming back with "well, maybe not all". Everyone knows not all but, there will always be the ones who stand up and point their fingers saying "aha, aha you said all."
If the companies and stores don't hire them, then you won't have that problem of lower wages. You can not blame them for that , when the companies are the ones hiring them. Companies are the ones looking for cheap labor. No cheap labor, no jobs for the immigrants, no lesser pay for American Citizens. You have to go after the businesses because they will continue to do so because they are not held responsible. The businesses know the loopholes and ways of getting around laws. You go after the immigrants, but the companies will hire more.
Yes, this is all part of the illegals and there, you need us, bs. They seem to think America made up jobs just to give them work. They think we have forgotten that hard working Americans made this country what it is. And as for them and there, who will do these jobs when there got ? Hard working Americans, and Legal ( key word, Legal ) immigrants, just like before.
HOORAY for the AMERICAN Swift workers who are suing the company!!!!!!! I hope they WIN the case!!!!!
And, YES, i am SICK of that tired old excuse!!! American workers did these jobs before ILLEGALS stole them, and they will do them AFTER illegals are all DEPORTED (Only, for a HIGHER wage!!!)
Yes, I am sick & tired of the racist propoganda constantly being spewed forth by the ignorant unwashed masses.
Uh,,, did I just say that out loud? What I meant ot say was,, Yes I am sick and tired of the lies & racist propoganda constantly being spewed forth by the ignorant, illiterate masses.
There! thats better! ( Big smile)
BINGO! It's NOT that Americans won't work, it COULD be because 1-they're PT/seasonal/no benefits [creating financing instability]; 2- the pay is below market rate or below poverty level; 3-the shop works below the radar of protective regulation and laws. The US gov't should be FIGHTING that kind of corporate incivility rather than encouraging it by open borders, looking the other way, etc! 'Won't work' is a lie--if not, the entire supply/demand theory is wrong, too, then!
Yes I am very tired of all the lies in congress,
They say we wont cut our own grass,in Mexico they have none.Who the Hell do they think built this country>?We need to decorate the trees in Washington with them treasonous swine
YES! its a big damn lie! I worked construction over 47 years and the last 7or8 years I"ve seen it overrun by illegals screwing it up royal. They have cut wages so low that a hard working man can hardly support his family and pay taxes & medical bills, something the illegals don"t have to do.And who do you think is going to have to pay for the shoddy work they do,its not the greedy contractors you better believe! Both party's in congress just look the other way. The scum-bags ought to get out and try working for a living sometime.
