Should not speaking a second language, " Spanish " Keep you from getting a good job?
Answer:
Bi-lingual means 2 languages..not "must speak Spanish" and frankly I'm sick of it. I speak other languages..just not Spanish. It's gotten to the point around here where ANY job dealing with the public is a must speak Spanish job. Whether it's a cashier, nurse, police officer, telemarketer, yet for some reason..they never have to speak English to me. Explain that to me. I shouldn't need a translator in my own country to do basic things or gain services or get a job. And an un-educated, inexperienced person shouldn't get a job just because they speak Spanish. It's happening here all the time. It discriminates against new immigrants who are not from a Spanish speaking country..yet learn English for citizenship. The "bi-lingual" (must speak Spanish) is an excuse to hide behind to keep all sorts of citizens out of jobs while just latinos get the free push in. It's racism under the guise of language. Name me an Asian spanish speaking country. Name me a black spanish speaking country. Name me a white spanish speaking country. Name me any country where Spanish is spoken that isn't a latino majority country.
We've even had people here who took Spanish and can't get in because they claim they still can't understand them and feel more "comfortable" with an hispanic. We imported teachers from SPAIN and they were let go because the Mexicans couldn't understand them.
Please..it doesn't take a brain child to see what's happening and it's a direct result of ILLEGIAL ALIENS who don't even belong here.
They can get work and not speak English but a citizen in their own country is denied jobs because they don't speak Spanish. People better wake-up.
Is Wal-Mart a good job? There are plenty of good jobs that don't require Spanish and plenty of jobs outside of the service sector as well.
when the ad says bilingual preferred or a plus...just forget about it if you don't speak spanish.
you should file a discrimination suit against them!! and turn the store in constantly for hiring illegals. e-mail who's in charge of store and tell him your filing suite and going to have store investigated. don't just let it go, that's why these criminals are getting away with this garbage!!
You should learn how to write in english before you complain about not being able to speak spanish.
all i can say, because i cant change this bad situation is to go to college. even community college and get a better education. and then get a job they can't have. so then they will be working under you and not the other way around.
This isn't the Tower of Babel so why does everyone want everybody to be unable to communicate with eachother by insisting illegals don't need to learn english?
A guy my husband works with told him that his little girl has to learn english or she won't pass the 1st grade and the rest of his family refuses to let her learn out of loyalty towards Mexico.
Well if they love it there so much then why in the world are there HERE?
Why don't they go back to Mexico where they seem to think is so much better than America and fight for their rights there and raise their families?
Why do they come here and expect us to change to suite them?
If you ask me that's really arrogant and ignorant of them to insist on remaining separate from us and having so much contempt towards a Country that has enabled them to have a much better life than the one they left.
And Walmart is pathetic it's no different than going to a flea market.
The only difference between Walmart and a Flea Market is you can't drive your car into it.
If a job description says that they want people who are bi-lingual, then you should expect them to go with someone who IS bilingual. Of course, if you want to be competitive in the job market, you can make yourself much more marketable by learning another language yourself. Spanish is much easier to learn than English, so you even have an edge. People who speak Spanish spend money just like everyone else, so having a work force that can communicate with them is just good business sense. You have absolutely no way of knowing if the person they hired was legal or not. And I'm sorry, but since when is working at Wal-Mart considered a "good job?" Stop blaming your problems on other people and go out and learn a skill that will get you a REALLY good job. The Illegals aren't holding you back. Only you can hold you back.
Good luck.
No, that should not keep you from getting a good job.that being said, the fact is that they are moving into our NURSING jobs, ALL MEDICAL jobs, and even the TECH jobs are being given to the illegal aliens...
The only jobs that aren't are those that the elite carry.
I didn't know working at wal-mart was a good job?? anyway that's beside the point. You must be really, really, ignorant to think that ONLY illegals speak Spanish, or two languages for that matter. . .suck it up my friend, the market is changing and your whining isn't going to get you that "great" job at wal-mart. Like some else suggested, go to school and educate yourself. I am, that's why I don't worry about anyone taking MY job. . .good luck!
It depends on whether you can do the job knowing only one language.
If the job requires interacting with customers who speak only spanish and you can't do that, then they don't have to hire you.
If its not in the job description it should not keep you from getting a good job, if you so sure they're hiring illegals why don't you report them? and you don't speak mexican you speak spanish
Nope, if they want to go to a store where they speak spanish, go shop in Mexico.
Some jobs require you to know a second language before you are hired - some don't...It is that way all over the U.S. and most of the free world.
If Wal-Mart or any other store is located in an area where there are many patrons who speak a language other than English, it is not unusual for them to hire people who speak that language. This applies whether it is Spanish, Russian or anyother of the 327 languages spoken in the United States.
You were not qualified because you didn't speak Spanish...no big deal...
As to them hiring "illegal" (note correct spelling) workers, you have no proof of that and are being slanderous. You are just mad because you didn't get the job.
And, what make you think that you are entitled to a "good paying" job and others are not and must work for "low wages"?
Get over it, move on and continue to look for work.
How about you take some grammar lessons. Good jobs? hahahaha wal-mart's 9 dollar a hour a ''good'' job. Hey america is a free country, any one can come. damn.. and letting the poor and the more needy having a low wage job they can actaully do is getting you mad. hey go educate yourself so you can get a better job ok.
