Why does everyone seem to think Immigration is only about Mexicans?

It's misguided. The majority of illegal aliens in the US enter through Canada.
Unfortunately America has become famous for their use of stereotypes. In Europe they have a problem with Middle Eastern and Eastern European immigrants, but you don't see anyone classifying them all as Arabs, Romanis, or Iraqis. They understand that there is a big variety in the immigrant group. But here, they all tend to look only at Mexicans since they form the largest part of illegal immigrants. They talk as though Mexicans were the worse thing ever, but just over a century ago they were talking the same crap about the Irish! These people don't learn from their mistakes, and that will destroy their beautiful empire sometime in the future if they don't change.

Precisely! Those 6 immigrants, 3 of whom are illegals, who were planning to "kill as many American soldiers as possible" at Fort Dix are mostly Albanians. We need to worry about all illegals, not just the Mexicans.

Maybe it has something to do with the majority of illegals being from Mexico? I have no hatred for them but do object to someone entering illegally and then expecting us to bend over backwards to give them aid from our hard earned tax dollars. What is it about the work "illegal" that many seem to have a difficult time understanding?
We are talking about ILLEGAL immigration and 90% of that is Mexican.
I think it's because it is easy to target a large group of people and they are the closest country to the United States. However I don't hear complaints on here about illegal's who over stay their student visa's on here.

I use the term "illegal". It doesn't matter what country they are from. If they entered the country illegally, then they are ILLEGAL.

But living in Phoenix, AZ, I can only speak on what I see every minute of every day, of every year.. Sorry if that upsets you. But this is my environment, so this is what I can speak.

For Hillary: Since Mexico BORDERS the US, I'd say most of the BORDER hoppers are Mexican.
For Siervocal: There is a difference between the Irish and Mexicans. The Irish came here and learned English, worked hard, adapted and blended in: They wanted to be AMERICAN. The Mexicans want to be Mexicans but live in the US.
It is mainly because the majority of our ILLEGAL immigrants come from Mexico. I can't believe the legal Mexican immigrants aren't up in arms about the bad name those illegals are giving to them. If I were a legal Mexican immigrant, I'd be patrolling the borders with the INS to keep those greedy, welfare and medicaid receiving, non-tax paying drains on society OUT.
I don't hate Mexicans. I do get annoyed by the Mexicans pulling the race card when US citizens state their opinions on illegal immigrants.

We don't think that. Per the PEW hispanic center Mexicans make up more than all the other countries' illegals put together together, though. People still shouldn't generalize, though. It is divisive.

I do not hate anyone, I am against all illegal immigration I personally do not care from which country you originate. Probably the reason why you see so much about Mexicans on here is because both sides bring Mexicans up, both the Pros and the Anti's.

When the workers of American say we need Immigrants form any country we will let our government know so until we do, we don't want any more immigrants from any country, the Statue of Liberty is for our freedom, not for others anymore.

Because they are people of color. For many years, Anglos, (white Europeans) have been immigrating to this country on a free ticket and working in bars and restaurants without problems. Have you noticed that there are no high walls at the Canadian border? Wonder why?!! First American put down blacks, then it became the Asians, now, Latinos. I believe it's because of color. Some of you who answered talked about the lack of paying taxes and the crime, etc., etc. However, you neglected to mention that Mexicans and Latinos hold the most jobs in the labor industry. They work hard in landscaping businesses, car washes, construction and let's not forget on our American farms. They do the work that us lazy, (yes I said it!) lazy Americans don't want to do because we are too spoiled with conviences and don't know the value of working hard anymore! They get paid minimal wages because they ARE immigrants and come from a poor country and unfortunately do not know better. They don't have a strong network of sponsors who are here in this country like the Koreans or Irish. They are not unionized and cannot demand fair wages like most. 90% percent of Americans are from immigrant ancestry, and most of our relatives came here to give a better life for our families. That's what they want, so give them a break! I'm so sick of Anglo Americans acting like their ancestors invented this country and they have so much priveledge. Indians and Latinos and most blacks were here long before the white man, built this this country on the sweat of their spine and get the least privledge of any class! Geez!
Let me see..hmmmmmmmmm... 8 out of every 10 illegal immigrants are Hispanic and most Anglos can not tell the difference from a Guatemalan, a Mexican, an Argentinian, or an American of Spanish-Indian descent.

you have it wrong, it's about the illegal immigration. you know, not legal, like against the law. I'll back the people who struggle to legalize their being here and become US citizens.there was a great pride in this struggle, and to achieve this was wondrous.
