Do you believe your wages have not gone up because of illegal hiring by your employer?

Answer:
H1B and immigration ~legal and illegal~ outsourcing. One place I worked at in 1987 paid $11.25 per hour. Now, 20 years later, they pay $9.00 per hour. What's wrong with this picture?!! This manufacturing plant is not the only one who's wages have gone DOWN. Even those whose didn't go down moved very little upward in the past 20 years. I believe illegal immigration has a huge effect on wages in these plants.

I agree with Fedup(up^there)..We have a lot of chicken processing plants in my state. They once paid $16 to $19 per hour and now hire illegals at $8 and $9 per hour.
because of H-1b visas, absolutely
No. Legal H1B hiring and offshoring has been quite sufficient to do that in my industry.
My wages have gone up. My company does not hire illegals.
My company does not hire illegals, nor do we offshore work.
That and the H1b visa program.
They haven't.

A meat packer was making $19 an hour twenty years ago...Know how much they are making NOW? Lucky if it is $9 an hour!
I know they didn't because my former employer hired them.
YES, Illegal immigration has really HURT my job and where I work. Money is taken from my salary and from the company. Close the borders!
The most basic principle in economics is supply and demand. A larger work force means lower wages and benefits for everyone, regardless of if the illegals work for your employer or elsewhere. Illegal hiring practices obviously hurt everyone in the working class.

The criminals illegally benefitting from the cheap labor (we have immigration and labor laws for some very good reasons) will of course try to deny the most basic principles of economics in their propaganda... This new "guest worker" (blanket amnesty) program they're pushing for would allow employers to legally and openly import unlimited numbers of more educated cheap labor from anywhere in the world, further hurting American workers.
No, because you need to be competent in this tiny world, and many employer prefer the belingual people.
Well my employer doesnt hire illegals.
It is correct to say that.
Mine have gone up. The only people really affected by illegal hiring are those working low level jobs. Those most affected by illegals are teenagers and others who are working the "jobs Americans do not want to do." I am not working one of those jobs.
No, I don't have any problem in my position with illegal labor affecting my wage.
Most businesses prefer that their office administrative staff be proficient in English.
No, and we have a lot of chicken processing plants in our state. They have never paid anywhere near 19$ an hour. And in the case of our town, they were brought in because the plants could not hire enough help. In this case anyway, they ARE doing what no one else will do. That being said, if they are illegal, they shouldn't be here.
Yes and no. The real problem is employer who want his $60,000 new truck to drive, while his employees slave for his greedy ***. Any employer who hires illegals belongs in jail and have his business shut down. Arrest and Deport now!NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS!
Not @ all an illegal couldn't do my job.
Hell NO! In my own support the employer was talking with an illegal, "Your people get paid more here than anywhere else so, please make it easy on yourself and be satisfied with the minimum wage even the government has given us rules and we follow them even when you are not worth it." A American worker that speaks, reads and writes English when we ask for some extra wages, " I can get the job done for minimum wage and If you will not do it for the money we are paying find a different job." That is just what I have heard. It makes sense that cheap wages are leverage to keep you working for less. I have always thought that I am skilled and the immigrants are not affecting me but the truth is the unions are powerless to stop immigrants from taking our skilled work. We are working for less and giving our jobs as well if we do not take less. The middle class is going...going.gone if we do not change this.
Yes, the wages are the same as 5 years ago...
Soon the whole World will be on a dollor a day.
