Welcome to America, NOW SPEAK ENGLISH!?

I should not know how to speak a foriegn langauge, I was born here! If you come from another country, learn english and don't look at me stupid because I DON'T KNOW THE CRAP THAT IS COMING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!

Answer:
i agree with you and i agree with the statement about crap coming out of their mouths, I can understand what your talking about but not the criminals who come here and it's down right disgusting!!!!
Cant argue with that. Too bad our govt doesnt care.
Then go out and teach it. It takes time for people to learn it on their own. Give them the opportunity, go tutor, there are plenty of institutions that would welcome a native speaker such as yourself to do so.
Wouldn't hurt if you took a few spelling and grammar lessons yourself.
wow. I hope you never decide to travel out of this country.
Refusing to speak English, and demanding that others learn Spanish, is an insult!
AMEN!
If ignorance is bliss you must be one happy SOB.
I wouldn't be so angry about it as you are, but, yes, I agree that immigrants should learn out language.
Well, sir, if English is your first and only language, then you need to spend more time learning it. Your opening sentence had mechanical errors in it, which is ironic given your statement about the 'crap that is coming out of your mouth'.
Thanks, that crap you are sputting is not English. Ask the Britons!.
Most foreigners try to and they become afraid because of jack asses like yourself. Also when you complain about others speaking English please use proper sentence structure, grammar and spelling. If you don't then you are the one who looks stupid.
Now, you're just being impolite.

But, the actual point is a valid one: People come from all over the world to US - to visit, to work, for asylum, and/or to seek citizenship - you can hardly be expected to speak every language that any given visitor or immigrant might address you in. Anyone coming to the US, though, should be aware that English is the most spoken language in that country, and make some attempt to prepare accordingly - and, indeed, the vast majority of legal immigrants do just that.
exactly the same with Britain, people should be fluent in English before they're allowed to stay here for over 3 months. It's just manners, politeness if you like.
They should have to take a sort of exam before they're allowed to stay into the country, knowing about our culture, have the ability to speak English like a 16 year old and have a job before being granted permission to live in the country.
I think that anyone moving to another country should certainly have a working knowledge of the language - if only for their own sake. But, although I speak English perfectly, I can't work out what the question is here.
Point is correct, somehow I wonder if our Elected officials,
understand English.
While I personally would learn Spanish if I were moving to Spain or Italian if I were moving it Italy, I wouldn't be as disrespectful of the diversity on which this country was built as you seem to be. The settlers didn't learn to speak the language of the native people of this country, and the US doens't have an official language. I do think that it is appropriate to speak english if you're working at a public place, for example I don't want to have to learn spanish to go to my local Wal Mart.
Well, you might want to tone it down a bit, but I understand your reasoning. My grandparents came to America from Italy and hardly knew the language but they went to classes and learned English because they were proud to be in America.

I've been to several countries in Europe and even though most of them speak English, I make an attempt to speak in their language. I'm a visitor there and don't expect to be catered to
What the hell is wrong with you? You intolerant, bigoted, racist moron! Go spew your hatred somewhere else where others will sympathize with your drivel, like a Klan rally. If others want to speak their own language in your country then they are entitled.
Have you ever traveled to another country where English was not the "official" language? If so, did you speak English? If not, perhaps you should so you understand what it's like to be one of these foreigners you so despise.
Amen!!!! i like your comment.
looks like the ones giving thumbs down must not speak english.. but its all good
Long time ago, since the Spanain was the "emperator" of the world the Spanish was the First Language with the time that change, but right now the Spanish is as important as the English, so the people need to learn both, so if you want a better opportuniny I urge to learn Spanish unfortuanlly for you most of the place are looking for belingual people, so if you dont like the chance stay behind, other take advantage, of course you a S... LEARN ESPANOL. The belingual people have great wages, an interpreter can learn at least $15 per hour, so don't be jelous take the rite and enjoy it or stay behind cry for it
I could not have said it better! I'm all for that!
I think everyone should speak several languages and that's just a matter of a good education. I do think that when someone comes to the USA is it imperative to speak the language of the country rather than demanding that the county speak yours. I took it as a personal insult that the words to our national anthem where changed and then sung in Spanish. I do think that each immigrant brings their own customs and should try to keep them. My great great great grandparents came from Prussia/Germany and as a small girl I remember that everyone spoke German at family meetings. My sister and I were the first ones to really be totally American and only speak English. I feel that is a real loss. I should have been taught my heritage. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't have spoken English. . .
I met someone that told me the same thing when I came to America. At first I felt bad, but anyway, I followed the advice. Since I never had the chance to thank him. Now I would like to take the time to thank you.
I learned to speak and write English in two years by studying hard and dating all those beautiful American girls.
Why am I so grateful?
Because being bilingual in USA gives you so many rewards.
Guess who gets hired to supervise non-English speaking people on any company?
Guess who do they call in the office to do business to other countries?
Even cops have asked for my help on translation while talking to Hispanic people.

Me encontré a alguien que me dijo la misma cosa cuando vine a América. Me sentí mal al principio, pero de todos modos, seguí el consejo. Puesto que nunca tuve la ocasión de agradecerle. Ahora quisiera agradecerle a usted.

Now if you don’t understand the second part of my answer go to this link and see for yourself how English-speaking Americans are finding that not knowing Spanish can be a handicap.

You know speaking a foreign language gives you the opportunity to meet people and expand your horizons that you wouldn't have been able to otherwise.
I'm glad you speak English, now LEARN SOME GRAMMAR!
I agree with you, that is something that should be done.
Of course I speak ENGLISH. Oh, and SPANISH TOO. I'm bilingual. Do you feel better now?
It seems that if you actually cared, which , of course you don't, (BIG SURPRISE) you would actually want to speak a second or third, etc. language. In the growing world, extra languages can help one achieve much. Apparently, you must not have a very good life for discriminating against a race of people for what their first language is and when they were they one who had balls enough to come here and ~work~.
You are so right!
