Birth certificate from Indian Consulate?

I work here in US and going to apply for I-485 and for that purpose I need birth certificate. I was wondering if I can get birth certificate at consulate.
And Is that birth certificates issued by the Indian Consulate will be acceptable for immigration purposes?
I really appreciate early reply.

No probably not sufficient. Consulates can issue a statement of birth, but this is generally only sufficient if a birth certificate is not available.

Follow the below link. It is the reciprocity table the US Dept of State issues regarding what documents to accept from each country (USCIS uses this table too). I've pulled India for you. Birth Certificates are the first document listed after the tables.
