Im trying to come to terms with what I was told yesterday by my friend who is a doctors receptionist.
She told me anyone claiming asylum in this country and there are hundreds of thousands of them,are entitled to see a doctor within 3 days of arriving,a dentist within a week,and if they are in need of seeing a specialist at the hospital for anything the receptionist has to ring straight away and get them in as soon as possible!
And then everyone wonders why the NHS is in the mess its in,and why they cant get a dentist,well now you know.

You're not talking about rights, though, I think. You're talking about government services.
The states give illegal aliens protection of the law. However the law should only apply to legal citizens. If a person invades another country, they lose any and all rights.
I agree - but its not just immigrants. I have more of a problem with the people from our own country who never work or pay tax and get everything given to them for free. For example, I have a friend who is really starting to annoy me because she is a single parent and lives in a lovely house with a big garden paid for by the government. She works from home doing beauty stuff but pays no tax even though she takes in more money than I do every week. She goes every week to get her hair done and buys expenisve make-up and clothes, but rang me in a rage yesterday because the local dentist is no longer treating NHS patients !!! If she can spend so much on her hair, surely she can afford to pay dental treatment. What gives her the right to live scott free off the government when the rest of us who work and pay tax have to pay for dental treatment, eye tests, prescriptions etc., as well as rent, mortgages and general bills that those on benefits get paid for them??? (I am not directing this to those who cant find work or are genuinely unable to work). I really think that this is worse than asylum seekers. Most of them would probably be happy to work and pay tax if they got the chance. More needs to be done to encourage people to work and pay tax, and less handouts for lazy lumps and those that play the system.

Vetting needs to be done on a very strict basis prior agreement that, the individual can come into the country needs to be done and even then when that person pays tax through employment the person should have to purchase medical insurance and unemployment insurance.
Only born nationals should get free NHS and jobseekers allowance.
Please make a careful distinction between immigrants and illegal immigrants. This is the difference between buying something in a shop and stealing it. Immigrants are not criminals they (we) pay taxes, vote and do all the things that born-here folks do.
There are relatively few legitimate assylum seekers that are legally allowed into the UK every year. These people are escaping war and persecution and have been vetted by the goverment to ensure that they are the type of people who want to work hard, integrate and make a new start.
Don't believe all the hype in the headlines. The tabloids just like to try and stir things up. Illegal immigrants should be detained and deported because they don't pay taxes, fall out of the social safety net and this can lead them to get involved in crime etc.
I think you are confusing several issues.
Immigrants should have no right to anything (benefits or housing)in another country, that way only those who really need asylum would come, and they would not get an easy ride.
Surely this is fair and does not force people to live in danger, but will keep out the scum of the earth scroungers.

The problem is that these illegal immigrants already have all the rights of the rest of us. They can go to any ER in the country and the doctors aren't even allowed to ask if they are legal or not. They are getting drivers licenses from DMVs in almost every state. School systems aren't allowed to even ask if a child is here legally. Worst of all there are even cases in some states where these illegals are getting welfare and food stamps. Wake up everyone. The question isn't should they get the same rights, but instead what can we do to stop giving them the rights that the rest of us have.

So just to be clear, you think that poverty-stricken people should be refused access to the money specifically set aside for them? And that it should instead be given to people who earn enough to pay more tax? By your logic, people should get a dividend from the government for being rich.
Get off your righteous, xenophobic high horse. Do some reading about how tax is allocated, how public money is spent on bringing people out of poverty and, most importantly, how small that amount of money is compared to, say, what we're spending on I.D. cards, the olympic games and nuclear weapons.

most illegal immigrants pay taxes even if they work under fake names or fake ss numbers. The difference between them and everybody else is that they are busy filling coffers that they will never be allowed to dip into in their old age, but yet the Americans who complain about illegal immigrants will benefit once thet hit retirement age.....we should graciously take their money and shut the F up.
