I basically told her that had the government been doing their jobs all along, we wouldn't be in this mess.
So, she told me that we need this bill so that we CAN secure our borders...
I asked her why we have to grant amnesty so that as a sovereign nation we can secure our borders?

If somebody steals something and you let him keep it and don't arrest him.that's amnesty.
Securing the borders is not that hard. Just eliminate the reasons that people are drawn here. Hiring an illegal? Thirty days in jail or $20,000 fine per day per illegal.
Use a someone else's S.S. number? Felony.
More than the legal number of people in a dwelling, jail, fine for the landlord, permanent expulsion for the renter. Temporary worker? Register with immigration, have a sponsor who must provide minimum wage pay and health care insurance. Sponsor must provide plan to transport and house workers for specified time period and transport them back when done. Failure to do so $20,000 fine.
Unskilled temporary workers quota from each country who wishes to participate not all Mexican.
