I am all for legal immigration. This country was built by the sweat and on the backs of hard working immigrants. Illegal aliens however are a major problem and are like locust and should be swept up and thrown back to whence they came.
Mass Deportation.

I think this argument has been heard over and over again since the 19th century and New Wave Immigration began. Read a little history. You're saying nothing your grandparents didn't say. Yet we have a richer history due to those immigrants and are a stronger nation because of it.

why is it, that when this topic is raised, that so many people go into 'slogan bleating' mode, rather than looking at facts?
suppose your town was filling a new lake over a period of years, and your town council met every quarter to discuss water flow
in the beginning, every quarter showed evidence to keep filling. but after a while, rather than looking at the level of the lake, the council would just chant 'we're a town of lake fillers' - 'my predacessor on this council was a lake filler' etc
anyone who talked about the levels was called a 'lakist'

Your question didn't say illegal immigration, it said "immigration" and if it weren't for immigration, my guess is that you wouldn't even be in the United States right now because somewhere down the line, unless you are indigenous to the Americas, your family immigrated also!
In my mind, the only people who truly have a right to be against immigration are the Native Americans who lost their land to the pilgrims...who were immigrants too!
Illegal immigration is a different story. Read a book about immigration, watch the movie "A Day Without A Mexican" which has some valid parts to it, don't follow stereoptypical responses that make you believe that all immigrants do is cause trouble...that's so far from the truth.
legal immigration is fine, illegal criminals need deported, jailed, whatever!! i think crime watch should put a $25.00 reward for every illegal turned in and deported, jailed second time and death penalty third!! they will be turning each other in!! i would take a rise in my taxes to help with this!!

Illegal immigration is one of most serious problems the country is facing today.
We should deport all of them and turn out to the polls and defeat all the politicans that are trying to push this issue down our throats.
Politicans will only respond to the will of the people if they are in danger of getting their butts thrown out of office.
Immigration is fine if they come here legally. Also if they choose to come here they should learn English so they can communicate with others. They should come here though i has built up our country. All the illegal immigrates need to be shipped back to their country though.
I think that it has gotten a little out of control, but if nobody ever immigrated here, we would not be here. Our ancestors came to this country too, and we shouldn't just stop letting people in. This country is for oppertunities and a new life better than the one you had before. I do think that it is wrong to come here illegally, but if they do, we shouldn't kick them out, but instead offer them a citizenship so they can get away from whatever was at their homeland.
I agree, legal immigration is one thing but millions of illegal immigrants entering our country and actually being able find employment because of cheap labor and poor working conditions is putting a strain on our economy. Not to mention our health care systems, etc.
Bottom line is simply $$$!! Until this country wakes up and puts a stop to the greed and corruption of businesses large and small these sort of things are just going to be a fact of life.
You do know there's a major drug war going on in Mexico right now... cartels are taking over whole towns and the Army has been sent into a few places to try and restore order...still many think the Army is out manned and out gunned!...if it gets any more out of hand we could see mass refugees flooding our borders trying to escape the carnage...
Of course the easy fix is for Americans to quite buying drugs so the big drug lords wouldn't have money for more bullets then the Army could take over and all the killings could stop...
But hey who cares if a few Mexican women get raped and killed? "its up to almost 500 now in Juarez" as long as we can get our hands of good high grade pot who cares about some bunch of dumb wet backs right?

Immigration is good if it can be controlled and BTW there is no reason that it can not be controlled. These people are not immigrants, they violating our sovereign laws and reaping the benefits of what your and my tax dollars bought in infrastructure. Our politicians have prostituted them self to large corporations by accepting campaign contributions for a promise of a constant flow of cheap labor. You and I are footing that bill by paying more for medical, trash removal, education and every other service we use.

It is vastly too large. Our schools are failing, and our children are not less important than theirs.
We need to protect our own and make sure we have enough for ourselves before we give our children's future away to others.

Legal immigration is fine. Our country hasn't been negatively affected by legal immigrants. it is illegals that are the problem. Most legal immigrants come here and adjust pretty well and are not the cause for the problems in the US>
Well, no offense , but you should start packing if you want all immigrants out. This is a country of immigrants . The only genuine Americans live in reservations . Look for you ancestors history . Are they 100% US Americans ?

I am all for legal immigration. If people want to follow the rules and do their best to become productive members of society then let them come ... the country can only be better for it.
On the other hand ... those who come here illegally start off on a bad footing, criminally entering and therefore having to live lives of lies and deceit to stay here. Doesn't make for a very good society does it?
