Do american passport holders need visa for entering switzerland for a 1 week stay?
Answer:
People certainly can invent odd rules rather than just looking up the truth (I'm referring to other answers, not to the perfectly rational and sensible question).
Here is the official word from the State Department:
"SWITZERLAND - *Passport required (must be valid for at least 3 months after leaving Swiss territory). Visa not required for tourism/study stay of less than 90 days."
Do the usual american thing!.......if they dont let you in....attack!
oh and make sure you accuse them of having weapons or something, then the UK can get SUCKED in as usual!
I think that you will need a holiday visa. They are easy to get though and if you are booking through a travel agent they usual sort that out for you.
If you are going to attack Switzerland and liberate their chocolate then you don't need a visa.
Have a look at this - I'd still contact the US or Swiss embasy though to make sure!

in almost all cases, all countries whose citizens need visa to go to USA have the same politics towards US citizens, therefore yes, you need visa.
No as my sister in law is from america and we are going to switzerland for a week on saturday with her and my brother.
People can give some pretty thick answers on MyTend sometimes, its scary.
Americans do not need a visa to visit Switzerland for up to 60 or 90 days, I am not sure which. If anyone is interested Swiss also do not need a visa to enter America because the Swiss, along with most first world countries are eligible for the US Visa waiver scheme.
you'll get it on arrival
