Why don't the minutemen join the border patrol?
Answer:
Because you don't just show up and say, here I am, make me a border patrol agent. You have to undergo an extensive background check, have to have a psychological profile, must be in great shape for training. Therefore, most of the minutemen are just not qualified to be border patrol agents. Most are retirees that have nothing better to do with their lives.
Border patrol agents get put in prison.
OK numbnuts, the Minute Men are trying to raise awareness. The problem with border enforcement is political incompetence, not the ACTUALLY border patrol.
They probably wouldn't get hired because they would actually get the job done!
good idea, there's 2 openings, ramos and compion, 2 border patrol officers who get sent to prison by the bush administration for DOING THEIR JOB
1) many of them are retired, they have time for occasional work, not full time
2) it's a demostration that bush is refusing to actually do it, and they've pretty much proved it
The border patrol has their hands tied by government, ask Ramos and Campeon - in case some do not know who Ramos and Campeon are they are the two border agents that tried to stop a known drug lord from entering our border and were given 20 years in prison for their effort, the drug lord was released (drugs confiscated) and showed up again 3 weeks later with an even larger amount of drugs and ultimately sued the US Citizens for 5 million dollars.
These people (The Minutemen) feel like they are taking it upon themselves to protect and inform the US citizens, be it right or wrong in your eyes.

If our government officials, who are bought and paid for by corporate executives and shareholders, wanted to stop illegal immigration, they would.
It is simple: real campaign finance reform. If taxpayers funded campaigns, not greedy, selfish, wealthy execs/shareholders, our 'leaders' would do their job.
A national id card to work or do anything else would send millions packing. Why don't our elected 'leaders' make the law first, before the border is closed to people who want to LEAVE? The answer is: greedy, selfish, wealthy corporate execs/shareholders don't want the pool of cheap labor to dry up. Why would they hire the minutemen, who will be effective in pushing back illegal aliens entering our country?

The border patrol is just another two-faced lying government agency, whose not doing their jobs. We need more people like the minutemen. Secure the border and NO Amnesty!

Because they're only interested in it part time. Also, they're probably more effective than the border patrol.
Also, they're not vigilantes. A vigilante is someone who punishes criminals on his own. The minutemen just report criminals to the authorities, then let the authorities punish them.
