Passport went thru the wash?

it looks like some ink bled and looks like something happened to it. you can still see the picture fine. numbers can be read. will it still scan? i dont want to get another one and have to transfer my visas and residency stamps.

Answer:
You should really get a new passport.

You can take care of visa and residency stamps later as well.

What is your immigration status? If you are on non immigrant visa, you can take of those when you actually travel back to your home country. It might be a problem if you have to travel to another country -for business or pleasure- in the meantime. You decide.

If you are a resident (because you have residency stamp- I am not sure from your statement of facts), then you don't have anything to worry. I presume you will have the physical green card which proves your green card status.
You probably will have to get a new passport and have to have your visas and residency stamps transferred. Look under the part where it talks about damaged passports. You have to fill out the DS-11 form and then make an affidavit explaining how your passport was damaged.
You are going to have to get another one otherwise it may seem that you are doing something illegal, and end up in jail.
