Do we have to learn spanish to live in US?
Answer:
No but you do have to be conversant in both languages in many parts of the country if you deal with the public directly.

Knowing how to speak a language, and choosing to use it are two totally different things. I can speak Spanish, but I don't unless I absolutely have to. I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that people think Americans can't speak another language... many of us CAN, its just that we DON'T.
Besides, most US high schools require at least 2 years of a different language, so most people have at least been exposed to something at some point.

It is wrong.. plain wrong that those who were born and raised in this country should now have to start learning the language of another country just because we have 12 million of them here illegally. Seems they had better learn English and quick.. and if they don't .. go home!

however the reason why many companies
are looking for people with the knowledge
of spanish language is because they have
many customers they speak spanish

its not a bad thing I am from Spain and I know my Spanish its kind of different in ways from Mexico Spanish but hey we do what we can to survive. I have a Mexican friend that is a physician assistant and she came here illegally and prospered payed her college and everything she had to learn how to speak polish bc her career asked her to so people that complain about learning things are lazy know can you see who really are the cry babies??? Spanish is spoken in a lot of places in the world wouldn't you like to take advantage and prosper your self or would you just like to be average? Everyone tends their buss. I say if you don't like it its your problem and stop hating and stereotyping everyone that is not your kind social racists who don't want to better them self's

When they're passing out snow cones in hades. I already know 2 other languages and I'm not learning another one. I'm over 50 and by god I don't feel I have to speak Spanish to live and work in my own country because of a bunch of illegals. It does nothing for me to learn it and besides...I don't like it and never did. I don't care if people want to speak it.all I know is English is the OFFICIAL language of this state whether the government wants to make it OFFICIAL or not. I don't care what language you speak...just learn English .
well my friend went to a job intervie and didnt get the job because they needed someone that spoked spanish and english so you tell me.
