Be honest?

Putting aside all kind -heartedness and emotions, and only using logic. How could we solve americas social ills, drugs, crime, welfare dependancy, unwanted pregnancy, and illegal immigration (just to name a few).

Answer:
Create a legal and binding contract with all US citizens; from birth to age 20 they will be provided food, shelter, medical care and education. At age 20 they must agree that should they cause themselves or others any harm they will be confined to labor camps for life.
Legalize drugs with the stipulation that should the user suffer ill health from there use NO assistance will be provided.
No female who has a child out of marriage will receive any assistance, nor will the child, unless the child is given up for adoption.
Execute everyone on death row that is without doubt guilty,i.e. Serhan serhan, Charles manson, Richard Ramirez, etc.
Make every employer that hires illegal pay a fine equal to 10% of the gross value of their business. Make every employer pay a living wage.
And much more. I know this is harsh and is like a dictatorship. However, we have far too many people in this country that only want the benefits and none of the resposibilties that go with society.
Bye the way, I consider myself a liberal.
Teach our youth personally responsibility...it is NOT a dirty word.

Then and only then can this be accomplished.
deportation would bring all of these tremendously down, of course it would not eliminate them but it would cut it at least in half!
oh, come on. One at a time, please!
Many of the first "social ills" you mentioned - drugs, crime, welfare dependency, and unwanted pregnancy - have a lot to do with your last one - illegal immigration. Sure, we had those problems before we turned into a Mexican state, but they sure haven't gotten any better.
Putting aside all other considerations: mandatory deportation of anyone you didn't want, whether it be immigrants, drug users, the poor, criminals, etc.

Lots of reasons it couldn't be implemented. The is NO simple solution to any of those problems, regardless of the need to be kind hearted. Logic alone cannot solve social problems, because social problems are often not logical.
Honestly, in my opinion, very few if any of these social ills will and can be solved, because emotions and loopholes in the laws rule. Also as long as there are lawyers, forget it.
Erm, wow, that's a lot of things to tackle, but here's my condensed opinion. Drugs like marijuana should not be a crime. No one has ever died from pot. It isn't for me, but we have too many people in jail because of minor drug related offenses. Unwanted pregnancy- educate people and encourage birth control. Unfortunately some religions like Catholicism tend to promote the opposite. Sex is natural, but I believe it takes a certain level of maturity to deal with it entirely and to be prepared for what may happen. Illegal immigration, stop hiring illegals in the US and paying them slave wages. There's no way that legal citizens can compete with what they're being paid, which leads to another world of problems. Welfare dependency, educate people and show them that there is a way out. Of course, some people are just lazy and leech off the system while blaming anyone else for their situation. I know a lot of these people. For those who have been on welfare and are able to work but make excuses, take it away from them.

The underlying messages throughout all of this are: personal responsibility (SORELY missing in society), education and self respect.
Not really sure how we could solve social ills, drugs, crime, and welfare dependancy, but I do know that abortions should be legalized for unwanted pregnancies. While in the mother's womb, it is a fetus-not a baby, and not a human life. When the fetus is fully out of the mother's vagina, then it is called a baby.

As for illegal immigration, instead of making new immigration laws, we need to ENFORCE the immigration laws we already have. Illegals need to abide by the US immigration laws we have now, and become naturalized PROPERLY. We do need to build a border. A 60 footer sounds nice. I happen to agree with McCain fining employers who hire illegals. $5,000 for the first offense, $10,000 for the second offense, and $25,000 for a third.
I have to agree with the ladies on this one,,,,,,,,,,,
solve illegal immigration and much or the rest will clear up
Drugs, most people start as kids as a way to rebel, make them legal and regulate it.

Crime, stiffer sentences, especially for repeat offenders.

Welfare dependency, make them work for it. Some kind of public work program, even if it's litter clean up, their getting the money anyway. I think you would see a decline in welfare at that point.

Unwanted pregnancy, that's a tough one, but we could start by NOT making sex such a taboo topic. We could add in education on the subject, then make prophylactics more available. The problem would be people distributing condoms, ( and other forms), to minors, puts themselves at risk for lawsuit. Like I said, that's a tough one.

Illegal immigration, why is it illegal for local law enforcement to make arrests based on migration. Give the authority to the local police and you will see progress.

The problem with all these solutions is that it goes against political correctness.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS THE ACHILLES HEEL OF THE UNITED STATES!
All this social problems become because the world the whole world is rotten, the people like the :wordily": things instead God things but I still don't understand the question, The immigrants and not only the people that bring all that stuff for our society, it that the the things that you are trying to say.
Stop the freebies. Illegals wouldn't come here if the benefits were cut. This includes all public subsidized benefits such as public schools, etc.
People wouldn't depend on welfare if it didn't exist.
Social programs are a nice safety net, but as a net, they catch the dregs.
I have four steps that I think might have more of an impact on those people that commit crimes.
First off, law enforcement needs to start enforcing the laws that are already on the books.
Second, stricter penalties need to be established for each crime committed, and the judges and lawyers need to be required to implement and uphold the punishments, or face fines or jail time for not doing so.
Third, no matter what a persons economic or celebrity status is, the penalties will be the same as if you were the average American being charged, and that person will be required to serve what ever his/her sentence is or what ever fines are imposed. There are far to many rich/famous people committing crimes, and getting away with just a slap on the wrist.
And finally, We need to make all illegal immigrants, regardless of what country they came from pay a mandatory fine, if applicable take ESL classes to learn english, and have a criminal background check done on them. If they refuse even one part of this process, they will be deported and denied entry back into the US for a period of no less than 5 years.

And as far as welfare and unwanted pregnancies, I think that if you are on welfare and have additional children they should be required to go back to school and further their education or learn a trade in order to get back on their feet in order to be a valuable member of society. I have seen from some of my own relatives, how they have milked the welfare system by having more babies to get more money from welfare, and have made a career out of this. I think these type of people should be made to do community service to clean up their communities and serve the common good of a neighborhood.

These are the things that I would like to see happen, I do think that it would change the world we live in, and make people more responsible for themselves and their actions.
