What do you think about immigration?

Why is it that every time someone asks a question about illegal immigration some braindead moron has to add the quip "Unless you are native american, all of us are immigrants". Imbecile, we are talking about ILLEGAL immigration. The rest of us had ancestors that came here legally, did not come for public assistance, didn't become baby factories, and obeyed the law. AND, one thing that never seems to come up is that every American who is of European ancestry and who's family came during the wave of immigration from 1890-1930 has had a relative that has worn the uniform and has defended our nation in a time of war, many of whom never returned. Do you see any illegals taking up arms in the War on Terror? Not unless you consider a head of lettuce to be a weapon.
Well, I just immigrated from the US to Australia and I'm very happy they accepted me here. It's a shame what facists have done to my country. I am very happy to have found freedom and prosperity here in Australia. I immigrated legally.
Illegal immigration is against the law
Legal is fine as long as you went through the correct procedures.
I am a registered independent, and I generally point out to people, that unless you are full blooded American indian, then EVERYBODY is an immigrant to this country.
Illegal immigration is a problem, but I believe there is a solution - we need to secure our borders to keep people from sneaking in, and we need to design a process where people wanting to immigrate can do so without having to sneak in.
Stop it. Unless you are willing to come here legally, speak the language (Which by the way is ENGLISH), don't sneak your relatives here and don't expect any extra benefits because of where you are from. And never, ever ** or complain about our country, you can leave as easily as you came here.
I think if we are sooooo bad, why do so many people want to come here?
I'm completely fine with it legally or illegally, as long as theyre not coming over to cause trouble ( drug trade, guns, terrorism). Most of them are just coming over here to make a better life for themselves and their family
I have no problem what so ever with immigration...the legal way.
I think that amnesty is WRONG. Why should we reward a criminal by giving them citizenship? What about all the people out there waiting in line like the LAW says to get here? We have immigration rules for a reason and they need to be followed.
Legal immigration is a time honored function of American Freedom. "Give me your poor, etc."
ILLEGAL immigration, OTOH, is a criminal activity which is especially dangerous in this current age of terror. Illegals cut in front of deserving immigrants, they steal services meant for citizens, and they glut the labor market, making advancements in technological harvesting less attractive, and so slowing progress in this nation.
I think people from other countries are disrespecting the USA. I don't mind them them coming here to seek work but I resent them interfering in US politics and the changes in the American culture that massive immigration is causing. Did you know many cities allow ILLEGAL immigrants to vote? The protest marches where they waved Mexican flags was incredibly disrespectful. I want a 3000 mile wall along Mexico and to crack down on illegal workers. The groups that have been hurt most by illegal immigration are uneducated blacks that lose jobs to the more hard working illegal immigrants. As for legal immigration, I want the USA to be more selective and adopt a system simliar to Canada's where immigration decisions is done by a point system. eg. If you speak English, you get points. If you are a nurse, you get more points, etc...

States. He stops the first person he sees walking down the street
and says, "Thank you Mr. American for letting me in this country,
giving me housing, food stamps, free medical care, and free

The man goes on and encounters another passerby "Thank you for
having such a beautiful country here in America !"
The person says, "I not American, I Vietnamese."

My opinion is definately not an orthodox one or even rational but I believe if you love America and what it stands for and the brave men and women who protect us (I am not talking about the politicians)then you should be allowed to stay and
obtain legalization while you are here, but in Arizona I see a lot of mexicans who wave thier countries flag and say that they love mexico and not the U.S.A to them I say " if you like mexico so much then stop being a benefit whore and screw.
My father is 100% italian, my mother is 100% italian but as long as I live here I consider myself 100% red, white and blue blooded AMERICAN.
Legal immigration, while happening far too much, is a source of skilled labor. These are, typically, people who will provide as much benefit to the country as the country provides them.
Illegal immigrants are essentially bandits who are here to take whatever they can get their hands on ( the law be damned). They have no interest in providing benefit to this country.. it's just loot and pillage to them.
Being an immigrant and now a naturalized citizen I am against any illegal immigration. This country has more then enough safeguards to allow for legal immigration. What bothers me is that I am suppose to accept that an illegal is trustworthy? They sneak into the country, they work illegally and/or buy someone Else's ID. They are living a lie, I cannot trust that kind of person.
The other thing that bothers me is that other countries do not tolerate illegal immigration. In Mexico there were some from South America that were shot, but we are suppose to accept that they are our problem and we should be nice to them?
I do not like the stereotype that says they are all from Mexico, I have known many Canadian illegals and while in the service seen many Asian women "using" US servicemen to get to this country. So the problem is multi-national.
If they come to our country~learn to speak our language! Other than that it's a free country and I welcome them!

MY opinion is that we need to take care of our own first, that our legal immigration quotas are already too large for our schools and hospitals and that illegal immigration on top of that is ruining our own children's educations and health care for our own sick and poor.
