Child born to indian citizens( on L1/2 visa ) in U.S , can he get indian citizenship?

We are indian citizens in U.S on L1/2 visa and expecting a child and would be going back to india in a year or two.So if the child is born in U.S , will he be treated as NRI in india for his schooling ? .Please help .as if this is the case , i need to travel to india to give birth to child in india for indian citizenship .

Yes, and you can do so after the birth by going and registering baby through the India Embassy in the U.S. In fact contact the India Embassy before hand and find out all the info you need.
