Why are southern people so hateful towards people of other parts of the world or color?

WHAT HAPPEND WITH SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY?

Answer:
Southern hospitality is only extended by white Southerners to other white Southerners. Their behavior goes back hundreds of years to the very time that the Americas were colonized. The South was an excellent place for the slave trade, because the large amounts of rich soil and long growing season could hail to large plantations and extremely large amounts of crop. The slave trade was short-lived in the north, because no one needed slaves. The soils were poor and the growing season was short, so people just grew enough food to support themselves, and maybe sell what was left over. In the south, as white people owned black people, it became to them a matter of supremacy: whites, simply put, were better than blacks. This was the way of thinking most southerners stuck to, and throughout time, even after the slave trade was abolished and we had our civil war, the beliefs were still passed down from generation to generation, which is why white people in the south still consider themselves superior to any other person of a different race.
Have you been to Boston lately?
U know what they say--there's no one more conservative than a southern democrat.
stems from older generations of their family's. People should understand most southerns live in small towns only populated with "whites", it really has to do with them not being exposed to other races. I know first hand coming from a small town in Oklahoma and being of color.
because they have an overgeneralized sort of thinking similar to your own...here's some cheese to go with your whine...
They are still pissed that the north won the Civil war and freed their slaves so now the rest of the world pays for their defeat
It's because all the jerks from other parts are moving here, and quite frankly you guys suck. Our hospitality is great, when it's appreciated.
That's ironic...I'm from the south and have lived in the south all my life. While at basic training in San Antonio I asked a black guy in my unit what's the best part of the country to live in if you're black? He said the south. I asked him why? He said racism is every where but in the south it's in the open people aren't friendly to your face and racist behind your back as opposed to New York, Chicago, or Boston. When we were on our first leave we went to a bar in San Antonio and the bartender said we don't serve his kind here. So we left an went to another bar. About 6 months later we were in Baltimore and went to a bar the bartender there served me my drink but did not even acknowledge my friend. Racism is bad. All I have to say to you is aren't you a "pot calling a kettle black".
I have southern family. Alot of them are racist. At this point we dont debate anymore. We just agree to disagree. I do tell them they wouldn't last up here(Chicago). What I do hate is when I'm around their friends they call me Yankee, and give me the stink eye at MY families reunion or get togethers, like I'M an outsider. Pigs! Its not just people of color they re against. Its us Northerners too.
For you to ask such an insulting and offensive question reveals how truly crude and insensitive you are. I would never say such a thing about yankees in general, or jews, or islamic worshipers, or Poles, or black people from anywhere. It is impossible to judge accurately how all people of any group should be regarded simply by the behavior of only a few of its members. You are likely to find that the group you are demeaning are as offended as you by the behavior of those who are less than model citizens, even within their own group. As an example, I have some very good friends who love and respect me, born and raised in & loving the south; they tell me that they are horrified that anyone would ask such a demeaning and hurtful question, then sign it "yankee". They regard themselves as yankees, having been born and brought up in the Northern part of our country. Because we are mutually caring of one another, we do not make distinctions among ourselves. I hope you meet someone from the south who can dissuade you from your belief that we are all bad, intolerant people. We're not--we even love you (and that is not an easy thing to do).
i live in the south, moved from Chicago, ill. glad i did. southern hospitality is still around. you should see all the white hos here who get with the illegal men just for their money. black folks are accepted more then illegals.
Here it is! Southern Hospitality never left. It is still as visible today as it was..whenever you last seen it. The South is a great place to live.I would not live anywhere else. Their is hate ..sure but only because the old southern families want let go of the hate. Just to let you know hate is not only a white thing. It is spread out through all races. Today, we are upset because our beautiful state is overran with immigrants. Yes, we are upset. But all hate and racism is born at home. Defeat it at home and it will be defeated everywhere.
lol what does geography have to do with it?
Well, probadly better in the south than when I was two years old growing up there. Most wealthy families had black maids, and the people paid them poorly at the time. My mom did not like the south because of the rasicm still prevalent in Macon Georgia. I think nowdays the rasicm still exists there, but not at the level of the early 80s and late 70s when the decade before civil rights just enacted. Southerners are more polite on the phone than people from New York, or Mass, or even where I live in Minnesota. Still, Untied States is not homogous like hollywood movies are. South pace of life is still slower than up here in Minnesota, or outwest.
Truth is, you've been listening to the wrong people. I'll give you two examples; 1) Several years ago there was a school shooting in Arkansas. All the pundits and talking heads were on air talking about the "gun culture" of the South. Then the same thing happened in Tennessee and Mississippi. Same results. THEN, it happened in Colorado, California and Washington State. Suddenly, the media could no longer beat the South over the head with the "gun culture" thing. 2) They say "Racist is rampant in the South," yet the race riots seem to be in Los Angeles, Detroit and just about everywhere else, but the South. I'm not a Southerner, but you don't have to be in order to see the biased regionalism in the media. Your assertion is unfounded and uninformed..
