Would it help to marry a GC holder before becoming a citizen?

My girlfriend is a green card holder and we want to marry. She is on her way to become a citizen so my question is. Would it help me to get married while she is a resident so once she becomes a citizens I have better chances to get my green card? Does this help me at all or is the same if we do it once she is a citizen?

Answer:
Marry her as PR.
Submit paperwork. At this point you will be eligible to work and travel.
You paperwork approved - Then you will wait for available visa number.
Once she become Citizen - Visa number is immiadetly available. You are sending paper to upgrade your petition, and (If already approved) - Yu are heading for the GC.

So, It doesnt hurt, actually it will be better (Since you will start processing sooner).
Plus your marriage will be more mature = More evidence, like bills bank account etc., Its easier on interview.

So Go ahead and merry!
wait till she is a citizen. It is going to be faster for you to file your papers. I mean, it is still a long wait to marry a citizen but much faster than marrying a GC holder.
it doesn't matter went you marry her... Right now if you marry her you get a Green Card!?!

from I-130 Petition for Alien Relative form
If the sponsor is a lawful permanent resident, they may petition for the following foreign national relatives to immigrate to the U.S.:

*
Husband or wife, or
*
Unmarried son or daughter of any age.
The wait for a visa as the husband of a Green Card holder will be at least 5 years. There's no wait, except processing, if you marry a US citizen.

If you marry her as a Green Card holder, and she later becomes a US citizen while you are waiting, make darn sure she notifies CIS that her status has changed which will also change your status.
It doesn't matter if you are married or not. If you are not legal here and your spouse is, you can still be deported. I know someone who is dealing with this right now. A couple married so the wife could be here in the U.S.A. but her time was up and they raided her employer and they deported her and fined her employer. He lives here and she is back home in good old Mexico!
doesn't matter. It will be the same thing if you marry before or after. BUT, it will benefit you to marry and apply before the new law passes, based on the wording. of the law they are debating now. It should be passed by June, so get on the ball.
You get a preference faster if she is a citizen.
