For Muslim immigrants, why do you immigrate to western countries?
Answer:
I think that Drake said it all. Only 18% of the Muslim population is Arab--most Muslims come from Pakistan (where I was born) and Indonesia (Indonesia is the #1 Muslim country by population). I do not think that Muslims immigrate b/c of tyranny or oppression or anything. Western countries are just as corrupt as Eastern countries. However, I think that Muslims immigrate to Wester countries for the same reason that Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, etc immigrate to Western countries: opportunities. The job market and education that the U.S. and Europe have to offer are priceless. Usually people who immigrate to the U.S. from Muslim countries are those that truly love America and Western culture. And even those that don't immigrate--many of them still like America a lot. All of my cousins in Pakistan enjoy American movies, books, and music. The news media runs a lot of specials on how Muslim countries breed terrorism and hatred towards the U.S. but what the people in those countries hate is the fact that U.S. is spending billions and billions of dollars on an ignorant war instead of helping out the poverished people that unfortunately make up a large part of many Muslim countries.
Arabs only make a small portion of the US Muslim community. To entertain your question many do it for employment. Just look around the USA there are a lot of doctors who are Muslim, but they usually come from places like India and Pakistan not from middle eastern countries. Many do it to escape the tyranny of their homeland and many come here for education. If you want to believe it or not many Muslims in the middle east love American culture and like to watch the things we watch.
No. I'm not a Muslim immigrant but I'm sure they come for the same reason as everyone else...a better life.
