Uk-visa structure - racist or not? - visitors denied on basis of them not knowing english-does europeans know?
Answer:
finally we have Great Britain again
I don't think that's racist. That is languagist.
Yes they do. It's generally part of public education in Europe.
Language and race are two seperate ideas altogether. No, it's not racist.
they speak english there , so of course it is not racist
racism:
a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
denying people that cannot understand you has nothing to do with thinking you are superior or have the right to rule them
I am white British and my (Jamaican) wife speaks perfect English. We have married since 1996 but she keeps being refused for a UK Visa to come and join me here in London. I have to travel to Jamaica to spend time with her
In my opinion I think that any immigrant moving to any country should have to speak the official language of that country. People should speak, or should learn English when they move to England, Spanish when they move to Spain, Italian when they move to Italy etc. Nothing annoys me more than the huge amount of English people who move to Spain and just refuse to speak Spanish, but yet they get annoyed when people move to England and dont speak English.
