You have the right Idea. They should have to endure a polygraph test to prove their true intent. And the polygraph should be a fee charged to the person applying for citizenship, so no additional cost are accrued by the Government to which they are applying for citizenship to.

They should especially take a test if they are seeking asylum as so many of them lie about where they have come from and the fact that they have been persecuted or tortured. Funny enough, all of the tortured arrive in leather jackets and are between the ages of 20 and 30!! I wonder why?
They shouldnt be given benefits at all for the first 3 months.They should show they want to support themselves and not scrounge.Im sick of paying 40% tax of my wages to fund lazy layabouts !

It is true that when most people move to another country they are looking to take advantage of the benefits in their policies. Whether or not they take a lie detector test will normally not stop people because they have other intentions as well.
Same situation applies to the United States. Unfortuanately, I don't think this problem will ever resolve unless the government puts tighter laws on who and how many immigrants can relocate to our countries. I agree, it is out of hand.
The only way to cure social welfare tourism is to disqualify all immigrants from state payments. If that happens, it would also be necessary to permit them other means of earning a living, a route many are prevented from taking at present. However, I would not like it on my conscience that some deserving cases would starve just to stop the people who abuse the system. By the same token, there are plenty home grown spongers too.

are immigration policy should be the same as Australia's you should have to meet a certain criteria and bring something into this country IE a skill and have at least 10grand in your bank you should be able to worship what ever god you chose but you cant preach it to anybody or build any form of worship building if you don't like or meet this criteria you don't come in simple

Thats because our government lets them do it!!! If you were wanting to live overseas theres a lot of strict rules including having money in the bank, a job to start as soon as you get there and no criminal records ect. Our government lets anyone including rapist. Its all political crap.

I think we should adopt Australia's attitude!! They won't allow any immigrants in including British, unless they have a trade, have some money and have no criminal record!! Sounds good to me!! That's gotta be 80% outta our country deported already!!

In Canada the welfare offices are just full of immigrants and they complain about the size of the cheque they get. Almost like their owed it just for coming here.
To be allowed to enter this country as an immigrant they should at least know someone already residing here, they should be able to speak the Queens English and have at least £3,000 to keep them until they find a job only the main breadwinner should get entry and when he can prove he has gained employment his family would be allowed to join him.
Other than that there should be Government centres, meals would be provided and vouchers for sundries totalling £5.00 pppw where they would stay until they find employment, that way if they haven't found employment in 4 months they would be deported back to their own country.
If we turned up in a country with no visible means of support we would be turned away.
this is the only thing i hate about immigrants and they take all our houses too, my friend had a baby and was homeless she was top of the list but then they decided that some kosovans deserved the house before her because they had more kids! how is it fair when we live here, and we come second best to everything just so our 'goverment' doesnt come forward as offensive and racist its total bull!

in any case most immigrants don't get any benefits... they have to work...
now if you're talking about assylum seekers, well that's different, but they're already stringently investigated by the Home Office anyway...
just have the government change the welfare law to, only if you citizen you can apply for welfare
