Answer:
I read your question and with a few tweaks we can work out a deal.
1. Build complete fence and close border for minimum of 5 years.
2. Better yet Implantable RFID chip.
3. I'll agree with number 3.
4. They must speak English and continue to speak English in public. Also take classes to learn English if they don't already speak it. In there own home they can speak whatever.
5. A background done in our country. I don't trust theirs.
6. I'll agree with number 6.
7. I'll agree with number 7.
8. $25,000 per fine, after 3rd fine the employer gets shut down.
9. I'll agree with number 9.
10. January 1, 1987 is better.
11. I'll agree with number 11.
12. Make it a $10,000 fine, and 3 payment maximum.
If the immigration reform bill said all that I would be protesting for the government to pass that!. Doubt it will happen.
** The reason I picked 1987 is that because it's been 21 years since the last amnesty. Even if women that received amnesty in 1986 were pregnant at the time, her child would now be at least 21 years old. Those children would now be American citizens. So whomever came here AFTER the last amnesty would still be considered Illegals. And all those rules above could and should be used for them.
It's a good start but there is so much garbage in this bill it is just easier to scrap it and start again.
Would that be structured the way the current bill is where there is legalization before the visas so that the triggers don't have teeth?
And does that mean they would ADD to the border security provisions they enacted into law last year instead of cutting border officers and the fence in HALF?
I'd have to see how it was written. The bill there now had a lot of thought put into it on how to give with one hand and take away with another.
I think we have lots of laws in place that we are not enforcing at all and we do we need more uneducated workers in our country. Lets enforce these laws rather than just give them a free ride. Send them home no matter what country their from.
I would amend number 3 to after a certain time period. Only giving certain people government aid will just create a bigger space between the poor and the mega-poor. If an immigrant comes to the U.S and tries doing the right things but can't make it due to a poor job market or lack of skills we shouldn't drive them into poverty. Those are the people who deserve aid. It's the lazy Americans who don't ever attempt work who should be cut off.
Well, I can tell you that not one of the folks that are so dead-set against illegal aliens would support the bill under ANY circumstances. Their opposition is based on emotion and, sometimes, on ignorance rather that rational and objective evaluation of the reality of having millions of illegals working in this country - not to mention the reality of having millions of working illegals suddenly vacating their jobs, a prospect that delights them and would bring important segments of our economy to a grinding halt (e.g., it's so very nice to find food on the shelves when we go to the grocery store).
If by "supporting the bill" you mean, giving eventual amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens, NO!
We need to enforce current laws on the books, which CAUSED the situation we are in now.
Prosecute employers for hiring illegals.
Do not rent or sell houses to illegals.
Do not give any monetary assistance for any reason to illegal aliens.
As well as the border being insufficiently secure.
EDIT: If we had enforced the laws we have on the books now, we would NOT be in the situation we are in now. (the lack of enforcement thereof CAUSED the situation we are in now)
You should submit it.. I like it.
I like your version except for #9. I don't want to have to always be carrying "papers."
And, I would add that any illegal who used someone else's social security number be prosecuted for identity theft.
What good is all of that if we can't enforce the laws we currently have? I say we enforce the ones we have now.
No way, it is unconstitutional, i do know that the constitution is for us american citizens, but how would they immigrate into our country, also are you willing to pick fruit for over 8 hours a day for only 50 cents per hour? i don't think so, without the illeagals our food prices would be sky high. so i see no way of the bill passing.
Change number 10 to 1 jan 1987, and I"m in.
Sounds just like hitlers plan.
Sounds Good, but it always does, I say enforce our existing
Laws First. After the Border Wall is in Place, for 2 years, then
revisit the issue.
Come on pro-illegals, SPEAK UP!!!
We can't give amnesty to these illegal aliens as per your arguments!!
We will pay too much money for our produce...remember, we NEED illegal aliens right?? We will be paying $10 for an orange, right??
If they are citizens, they will have to be paid at least minimum wage and benefits...and America's economy will crumble!!!
Speak out against ANY amnesty and this billl NOW before it becomes law!!!!!!!
How about we first build the fence President Regan promised, when everybody excepted the last amnesty in 1986.
to do anything else is a joke.
But I'm sure if we stopped the flow of entry level workes, the Government might loose all those S.S and Medicare taxes they collect to keep afloat those systems.
I am for it except the $5000 fine in several payments. Illegals should pay back taxes equalling the years living in this country. They should also pay back for any benefits they recieved. Both in several payments. If they can afford to pay $5000 to coyotes to croos the border, they can afford to pay back taxes and benefits.
God damn, why not just tattoo everyone who enters the country and make them report to a PM (Public Morale) agent every week?
Secure and tighten the border is too general.
The border must be sealed, period. An independent panel would be required to certify the boarder is sealed before any amnesty starts. I would not believe a thing Bush or any member of Congress says.
I'd also want to see an end to "chain migration." We must change the system to pick immigrants based on education, skills and ability to adapt to American culture.
You must have a provision ending all federal funding to cities who act as "sanctuary cities."
Finally, I'd require illegal aliens to admit their crimes in return for their amnesty. I'd force them to submit full confessions in affidavit format so there was no ambiguity as to what they did, and the fact that it was illegal, and to the fact that we, Americans, out of the goodness of our hearts, have granted them amnesty.
it all sounds good except the part about issuing visas to reward those who have hid in this country a certain period of time. Why does it matter if they were here before 2007 , if your going to give a free ride to 12-20 million illegals . Why deny a couple hundred more? Anyhow i might vote for such a bill if no visass are issued until 1,2,and 3 are in place but only after a 5 year probation period . ANY violation of any law and your blackballed. Also i support a provision in which any us citizen can at any time for any reason have any illegal immigrant deported.no questions asked. This way we can help weed out at least a small percentage of the really really stupid ones, and those who refuse to use english.
I think they all need to be micro chipped.. sry. It's just to easy to falsify records, photos & other documents.
I have a quick question, if you don't mind answering :)
I'm guessing this is about the new bill being talked about. Does this apply to people who come here on refugee status? (refuges- people who come to the US because of war in their country example would be Darfur)
Also, why a physical exam? What do you do if a person is dying of cancer? Are hospitals not to treat them? What if is a 10 year old with cancer? What if the person is physically disabled or has a mental illness (and I'm not talking about depression I'm thinking along the lines of developmental disorder)
1 and 2 are good. but, they can pay to come here like all others have done before them. forget the fine. 3rd offense they should go to prison for life.
