First off, your name isnt Huachita and are not from an indian tribe... so you or your family were immigrants too.
Second, Mexico is not that terrible and is visited by more americans than any other country.
Third, I suppose you have never left this country? If so does that automatically make you trash for not knowing their language?
Fourth, Learning another language is not something that can be accomplished over night.
Fifth, Open up your mind hitler. Closed minded people such as yourself are the only ones that need to be deported..

sending them all back is not the american way....i think we should regulate immigration but for all the illegals here now i say we give them all amnesty...give them all their papers and stuff and say u have 1.5 years to learn english come back and check with me then....if they dont have it learned give them another shot...if they fail and someone finds them deport them...but the border should be tightened up significantly
tell me about it. i cover the phones here where i work and for some reason we keep getting these customer service calls. anyways there are mexican people calling and asking if i know spanish and when i tell them no they get p!ssed. well, sh!t freakin learn English and you wouldn't have this problem.

I've been saying the same thing for years. They are jumping over fences to escape their poverty-ridden excuse for a country and destroying our culture. I wouldn't be suprised if those leeches tried to change the national language to Spanish. Makes me sick.
They come here so you and your family don't have to pick oranges for your OJ in the morning. Sure they can't speak English, but I know my ancestors didn't speak English either when they came over. Spanish is easy to learn, and Mexican people are nice. Plus they have great food. By the way, Mexico aint so crappy any more, with the resort buildups and the clean up they can brag now that they have some of the cleanest water in the world.
They come here to do the work that we don't want to do. And there is space because a lot of our workforce is going indoors, so let them come work, that's what our ancestors came to do.
Well it would cost us the tax payers at least 1 billion dollars to deport them - they say they will do the jobs americans will not do yeah right we cannot ever get a job because they have the jobs. They should go back to there country and better it for themselves.

Not only don't they understand or even TRY to learn English, they get upset when we don't understand Spanish!
Then there's the ones that do understand English, unless it is more convenient for them to pretend that they only speak Spanish.
I had this problem at Disneyland. I was saving a place for the parade and had my feet out. A lady SAT ON MY FEET. When I asked her to get off my feet she suddenly only spoke Spanish. Later I heard her speaking perfect English to someone!

Every Morning they arrive in Staten island, NY from North Carolina by van.
I see them arriving early in the morning around 5:00 AM and you can see them when they get off the van and dissapeared into the streets. My friend tells me that they arrive every thursday morning from Noth carolina. And you see them having babies like bunnies. I see women with five kids. But I also wonder, what would it be like if one day we have to flee to Mexico for help?
Try living in El Paso Tx, I seen people who are mexicans who has lived in El paso for 25 years and have not yet learn 1 word of english. They have turned El Paso Tx into little Mexico, and it is so sad. You think you got it bad live in El Paso where there are 700,000 of them.
The question is, why haven't you taken 5 minutes of your life to teach them a few words in english ?
When noone gives a damn about helping someone new, or reaching out, it translates in what this society is now. The American Dream is very real and alive but if noone gives a poop, it becomes an american nightmare.
Ok i know we all pay taxes and a fraction of it (yes a misley fraction dont think its much ) is used in education centers. Most teachers are volunteers who couldn't careless. The foreigners could go to those classes. But will you feed them ? They need to be at work cleaning your bathrooms in the malls you visit, they need to fix your roofs, they need to pick all the apples and lettuces and oranges you eat. In life you try and try but you eventually make a choice, feed yourself and your family or go to classes that cost 10s of thousands. Even legal residents can't afford school in general in our countries, and believe me they speak as good an english as many foreigners they criticize.
So I would suggest you simply think about things before talking about things you don't understand in the first place.
I think it is convenient for them to NOT, so they can use their 'underdog' status in our dingbat liberal society to get free health care, etc. If we started moving to Mexico, the people there would be marching in the streets until they sent us back-here?

My husband is currently learning English in Mexico and has time to work full-time Monday through Saturday AND attend his 3-hour English classes 5 days a week without fail. If something´s worth the time, you MAKE the time.

I worked in Chihuahua, Mexico for six months . in 1999. our company was contracted to install the electrical control systems on high speed conveyors. these conveyors came down in the big push to close all american factories and move them to mexico.This factory was Champion Athletic Wear. Right next door to the Ford and John Deere plants.
I had to get a Mexican work visa with my picture on it. And you sure better have it on you if their immigration people came by the factory..When i worked there, i went to a one hour spanish class every nite, because you just don't walk in to a store there and start asking for stuff in English..I felt like if i knew some spanish, or at least tried, it would be better for me..and it was.
Most of the Mexicans i met there were well educated, polite, and seemingly genuine people...
The majority of the Mexican that sneak in to the US are illiterate. They hardly know their own language much less ours. The educated workers in Mexico can't wait for the idiots to leave. Their gov't feels the same way...

Well its not so simple to learn a new language. Could you learn Spanish or french or Italian or Lithuanian so quickly and fluently? They have just as much right to be there as you.

That is what the Statue of Liberty says... it doesn't say anything about learning the language. Not that I don't agree with you about immigrants learning the language of their new home country (I live in a Germanic speaking country and I AM learning the language - I feel stupid in a lot of situations, but it does take time to learn - and I have a thick American accent, which makes it hard for people to understand my German sometimes). My great-grandparents learned to speak English flawlessly (but could not read or write it).
I agree with some of the comments that say that the people are too busy working their low-income jobs that Americans are too proud to do or would want much more money for. I agree that you probably have not left the US and you know ONLY English (like many Americans), and I agree that you could take some time out of your life to help someone out, be patient while trying to speak to someone who doesn't speak English, and open your mind about the plight of immigrants.
America, as we know it, was founded on immigration. There are still some people from other countries who seek the American Dream. As long as the people are good citizens and try to be good people, then what is wrong with it?
I have really strong OPINIONS on this, but that doesn't really help anything. As to getting here, we encourage it by giving illegals jobs, taking there money for housing utilities without proper ID cause of greed. But they're people too we can't let them go without Satellite TV. And if your born here you are a citizen of the US and since we cant have babies with no parent's they all stay.

I've been try to remind people like you that there is something could cultural rascism. U.N. has stated that Immigrants should always follow the culture of their host nation. That would include language. The belief of one culture over another is racism. To follow logic, Not accomadating the to host's culture is a bit racist.
I alway believe that American culture includes tolerance to foreign culture, but that doesn't mean to be subserviant. The greater effort is theirs not ours.

Many of them are not in school to learn, their children are depended upon to cover the communication gap. I don't find myself in many social situations where I can not communicate with Mexican people, because the ones I have socialized with are fluent in English.
Body language is very clear to the ones I have had negative social experiences with, and they get my point.
