Do you believe the reports of a survey that say more people are aggreeing with the immigration plans?
Answer:
I don't follow surveys conducted by media or anyone in the government EXCEPT for the US CENSUS. This is due to the fact of "selective surveying". To get "YOUR" message across statistically you poll mainly the areas you know that agree to your idea(s) or plan(s). This causes most surveys to be unreliable. The US CENSUS is the only survey that I think is unbiased due to the fact it is just collecting national statistics, not opinions.
So no, I disagree with the survey conducted here and it's credibility.
It was one survey in New York.
Do a survey in the border states and watch what happens.
I would like to see the how the poll was conducted and what the questions were, or could it be like the 1-800-882-2005 number that is not only in Spanish but it is toll free and connects to directly to your senator, while the English number is not toll free and you have to wait to be connected
manipulation.
Look at Lou Dobb's survey
No, I don't believe it. The point is that they want us to believe it, so that they can claim that it wasn't done against the will of the majority of citizens.
Not from the polls I;ve seen. This bill has people so mad, even some who just a fews weeks back, felt sorry for the illegal aliens, are saying enough of this.
I have not seen any reports like that. The only thing I see is increasing numbers of American citizens who DO NOT WANT TO GIVE MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL ALIENS AMNESTY! I will never agree to the terms of this bill and neither will other true Americans.
Was it a poll taken in the middle of Spanish Harlem? because
nobody I know has any intention of letting this slap in the face to the American people bill go unanswered.
Manipulation for sure!
Every time I get a poll, the question seems leading. I believe a majority hates it. Those on the pro side, think the $5,000 is too much, and its not family friendly enough. Those on the anti side, think the $5,000 is too small a fine and it won't prevent future illegal immigration. I think some support it , because they realize the sooner we fix the problem, the less suffering this immigration will cause.
I'm sure it is manipulation, of a sort. Conservative reports (Rasmussen etc.) have polls saying over 60% oppose the plan. http://news.yahoo.com/s/rasmussen/200705...
The New York Times, a liberal media outlet, came out with a poll almost exactly the other way (but indicating immigration going forward is an issue.) It depends on the questions asked, and frankly, whether they are casting the net wider than their own circulation, which has a certain political bent.
And here's another: http://www.mclaughlinonline.com/newspoll...
and another.

They are all over the place.

edit - I just found this more fulsom write up of what the New York times poll ACTUALLY said:
"The CBS-New York Times survey found 62 percent of the 1,125 adults polled said those here illegally for two years should be allowed to apply for an unspecified legal status. But, like most surveys on immigration, which show a conflicted public, the poll also found 69 percent want illegal aliens to "be prosecuted and deported."
The poll also found pessimism about immigrants.
More people thought a guest-worker program would increase illegal entry than decrease it, and more people thought immigrants will make society worse than thought they will better it.
And 62 percent of those surveyed said illegal aliens do not try to learn English within a reasonable period of time. "
Hmm, hardly what the headlines implied, is it?
more then 80% of the American people do not want this bill to pass,..that is the way it is,..and if it passes, you will see a change in both houses of congress,.. the only weapon we have is our vote
Across nation from coast to coast more and more Americans agree with Democracy, Immigration reforms and social Justice for all tax payers.
I think it is total manipulation... Who in the heck did they survey; Mexicans??? I never believe these surveys, because a small group of people can not speak for the whole U.S.A. I've never been involved in a survey of that sort. Where do they go to find these people? Was it a survey of 100 people??? These are the questions that should be asked!!!
Manipulation. People are point blank against illegal aliens...at least citizens who care about obeying the laws and protecting the country from invaders.
LMAO...a majority of Americans support proposed changes? Then at the bottom of the report it says The telephone survey questioned 1,125 people from last Friday through Wednesday.Thats hardly the majority of AMERICANS!We dont need no stinking new immigration bill,we need our government to inforce our laws!!!!!
I believe you can get whatever results you want from a pole.
I also believe that before the American public is done with our congress, the current bill will be altered to represent what the American voter wants or else we will remember the vote come election time. Just like we will remember the 11 Senators that voted against the money our troops needed to fight . That would be 9 Democrats, 2 Republicans and one independent.
