US Immigration: Greencard lottery?

So we applied to the US Greencard Lottery which I know is extremely unlikely that we will succeed.

However have other people been successful? Has the results been published?

Answer:
My gf and I also applied for green card... nothing yet :(
What worries me is that I've read stories from other people living in this country that already got their green card this year. I hope that doesn't mean this country has finished the competition for this year.
thats funny... greencard lottery...
In my years, however few, I've only met one person who has gotten a greencard from the lotto, and she had a sob story that basically guranteed her entrance.
My brother and his wife applied to the US greencard lottery and both won a card! You could get one too so well done for trying and good luck.

I tried but you can no longer apply if you are from the UK.
Up to 55,000 immigrant visas are issued each year in the diversity visa lottery. Check out www.uscis.gov for the statistics.
It depends on which country you`re from because they have different quotas for different countries. As a matter of fact, certain countries are not allowed to apply at all. It`s kosher actually.I can easily count 10 to 15 people i know who won it.During my undergraduate days, three people in my year won it and several others that i heard about later. So keep trying. They get in touch with winners directly, they don`t
publish anthing.
I know more than one person who has "won" the "greencard lottery" (i.e. received a Diversity Visa). The chances are far better than in a typical money lottery, however you are by no means guaranteed to receive a one no matter how many years you enter.

The Department of State issues reports ("Report of the Visa Office") including statistics visa issuance -- of all kinds of visas including from the DV program. See the URL in my "sources" list.

One thing to keep in mind: Be careful about reading the requirements. They base your eligibility on the country you were BORN in, not the country you claim citizenship of (they call this your "country of nativity"), and so if you were BORN in one of the countries listed as ineligible, your entry will be ineligible to receive the visa even if you are selected.

This is a pain in the neck if, say, you were born in the UK (ineligible) but are a citizen of Ireland (eligible). You are screwed. You cannot receive a Diversity Visa, so your chances are 0%.
As a British citizen you cannot apply for a green card. They let Cubans in etc.
