Isn't it an overgeneralizing, demagogic, demonizing stmt to analogize(liken) illegal immigrants to criminals?

I have come across Q & A's that do this.

I think it reflects poorly on all Americans to allow this kind of jingoistic character assassination guide our immigration pollicy-making. The legitimate issues we face trying to manage better the flood of people wanting to come to America for a better life are hampered by such extreme rhetoric which is often based on racism and ignorant, unreasoned, thinking about the problem. That said, I'm open and willing to listen to any thoughtful answers and comments Insults, namecalling and vitriol however, are unwelcome, but will be tolerated if posted bec it will only provide the evidence of the existence of an intolerant irrational minority in favor of harshly treating immigrants that came or come here seeking better lives like most our forefathers and foremothers did. Answer:
To be an illegal alien means that you are not a US Citizen and you have or are violating the law.

To be a criminal means that you have or are violating the law.

The only difference is that illegal alien is a subset group of the larger group of criminals.

Like a drug dealer is a subset group of the larger group of criminals.

The "only doing it seeking a better life" excuse can also be used by drug dealers, bank robbers, muggers, etc. It is not a valid excuse for breaking the law.

How many of the estimated 2 billion aliens around the world that want to immigrate to the USA, should we allow in? All of them?

Now if you had a choice of who you wanted to be your neighbor who would you choose:

1. The alien that came here legally and did what they are supposed to do and obeyed the law or;

2. An alien that ignores the laws that they do not like and takes more than they give to from society?

Be honest in your answers.
Education costs $10,000 per year per child in California, and those that are here illegally are taking that money from our children's educations, which are failing.

When someone takes $10,000 per year times however many children they have from someone, when they have no right to it, what do you call that?

Also, crossing the border illegally is a misdemeanor, or a felony if done after being deported. You seem to have a very narrow definition of 'criminal.'

-- and you can call us a minority and 'intolerant' as loudly and often as you like, but it doesn't make it so.

Isn't it an overgeneralizing, demagogic, demonizing stmt to analogize(liken) being opposed to illegal immigration and mass immigration that ruins our own schools and services to being 'intolerant, demagogic and demonizing?'

there is no such thing as trying to liken an illegal immigrant to a criminal, because they are criminals. there are degrees of criminal activity. like a homeless person stealing a bag of chips to eat. they are still a criminal, but not exactly ted bundy. nobody is saying imprison all the illegals.just make it more difficult for new ones to come here and send the ones here back home. that punishment would fit the crime
No facts a fact
Illegal is criminal period
Main Entry: 1il·le·gal
Pronunciation: (")i(l)-'lE-g&l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle French or Medieval Latin; Middle French illegal, from Medieval Latin illegalis, from Latin in- + legalis legal
: not according to or authorized by law : UNLAWFUL, ILLICIT; also : not sanctioned by official rules (as of a game)

so - is the dictionary now 'hate speech'?
Illegal means criminal. You obviously like to use your dictionary, so look it up.
these are criminals, they break the law by trespassing. if i came to your home and just walked on your property and made myself at home, you would call the cops and i would get locked up therefore i would be a criminal, no difference!! my forefathers came legally!! they are ruining our economy, lowering our education standards, a tremendous rise in crimes amongst illegals, bringing in diseases ( i read last night where 143 cases of leprosy in the U.S. last year and they were all illegal mexicans!) what about the poor people in this country that where born here? some are generations of living in poverty. illegals are taking away from them help they need! help your own first! we are not responsible for these criminals having a better life, that is up to their home countries!! we need to worry about cleaning up our own criminals, helping people who are citizens get medical help and to better their lives, not illegals and no it is not racism-it's common sense!!
If you do something illegal, it makes you a criminal, I don't think it can be said any simpler. There are laws for a reason.
This country has some of the most lenient immigration laws in the world anyway so to come here illegally is ridiculous in my opinion.
The bottom line here is, we do have a legal way to come here. Wanting our laws obeyed, has nothing to do with race, I could care less where they are from, nor what color they are. Yes I'm sure most are very good people, but even the very best people must obey the laws. Yes we sure do need to make coming here easyer, but that is up to us, not the illegal aliens. We can feel sorry for these people, and still want our laws enforced.
Commiting a crime makes a person a criminal. It is not unfair, unreasonable, or racist to call a person who illegally crosses the border a criminal. Our laws are designed for specific purposes--- to help people get along, to prevent accidents, to see that resources are used fairly, and so on. If we do not obey the law, then governments can not maintain order or protect our health, safety and property.
First, I am not opposed to immigration. My wonderful daughter-in-law is from France. She came here in high school as an exchange student. She came back for college.
Now she's studying for her Master's. Point is..she has always taken the necessary steps to be here legally. She speaks and reads fluent English.
But, like many Americans, I am dismayed by several things.
The failure of the government to enforce immigration laws for decades has led to today's problems.
I think many react badly, if patriotically in a perhaps mis-guided fashion, to the highly publicized resistance of Latin-America immigrants and illegals to adapting to our culture.
The Vietmanese boat people did not demand that public offices post signs in Vietmanese. They did not sing our national anthem in Vietmanese. I think many Americans have been offended by those who wave the Mexican flag and have reacted emotionally.
Our welfare system is already overtaxed, and frankly, many people are vexed at their tax dollars going to support welfare programs to Latin Americans. Any baby born here to an illegal immigrant who has no money will be supported by the government. So will that parent.
I think part of the public backlash results from the disparity in the government's tolerance of illegal entry into the US. A group of Haitians in a rickety boat will be turned back. But, the government now proposes a bill that virtually grants amnesty to most here illegally now. A bill that benefits mostly those here from Latin America.
Now to address criminality, it would be wrong to pretend that
none of the immigrants without status here are law-abiding.
Obviously, they committed a crime crossing the border, but I am also concerned with those who commit crimes after they arrive. Deportation doesn't work, they slip back across the border at the first opportunity. A friend's brother works for the INS and he's encountered many individuals multiple times over the years.
Many people feel the government is rewarding a vast group of non-status individuals who came here illegally and haven't made an effort to adapt or seek legal status and that that is a slap in the face to those both currently and historically came here legally.
Yes, immigrants built this country into the wonder it is today.
Created a culture that speaks English, pays taxes, and waves the American flag.
It is any wonder than with recent events, many question the
influx of people who (not all, but many) seem to want to change the culture into one they left behind to be here?
Is it ignorant or intolerant to ask please speak English, please pay taxes, please don't break our laws? Please don't destroy or insult our heritage?
No in Mexico illegal entry is a Felony.
What do our laws mean to you? Nothing? You are so hiding your head in PC that is actually embarrassing. Do you pay taxes and do you have children? Are you supporting yourself or do you live with your parents? It apparently hasn't hit you wallet yet and when it does maybe you'll realize how much we are hurting the children of this country by lessening their right to a good affordable education just to mention one of the thousands of issues that are being realized by the American people.
You used so many typical liberal words in your title I dont have the stomach to continue .
Have you been kissing al franken again? 2 points
Your so full of it. They are illegals and they did break the laws like criminals so they are criminals. So anyone who wants to treat them like criminals is "racist." Sorry if we would like the laws inforced, we must be demonizing racist sexiest homophobes, right? Your a sheep. I don't blame them for wanting to come over here and i agree is system sucks, but don't slander your opponents just because they want the laws inforced. You fight like a good little communist. If you can't win with ideas go after them personally.
this person is a moron.
liken illegal immigrants to criminals.
