Is it true that to have american citizenship u need to live there 10 years instead of 6?

Is it true ??Ten years or 6???

Answer:
You are qualified to APPLY for citizenship if you have had 5 years living in the US from the day you got your greencard or 3 years of living in the US if your greencard was acquired through marriage of a US citizen.

NO other way.**
You don't get it at all until you have a green card. 5 years of permenant residence is usually necessary to apply for citizenship. 3 years if you got your green card by marriage.

You NEVER get citizenship merely by passage of time, if you are here illegally.
